Transmission skipping?

In my 06 ralliart 5 speed ive noticed something pretty damn odd lately. As i ease off the clutch into first gear to get going i feel several hard thumps. Its almost like my transmission is trying to engage but it is skipping. Im fairly new to manual transmissions however this problem only seems to happen on snow and/or ice. when i ease off on the clutch alot slower or start up in second gear this isnt a problem nemore. Im thinking the problem lies in the fact that im easing off the clutch too fast on ice or snow and because the tires spin its almost like punching it to hard to fast with what little gas i do give it.

can anyone shed some insight into this?

Could be one of two things. Does this only happen when the car is cold?
If so, it's probably the clutch chattering. I haven't driven my car since the 19th and drove it today, it's sat outside the whole time. The clutch was a *****, really grabby. It goes away if I rev it higher and it goes away once the clutch is warm.
I have heard other people sometimes have the same problem, I don't worry about it too much, as far as I remember it's always done it for me.

If it happens only on snow and ice and anytime you drive (not just when it's cold) then it's probably wheel-hop on the snow, though I've never had that happen.

Clutch chatter gets pretty bad on our clutch. Filling the motor mounts reduces the severity, though.

Clutch chatter. Mine's done it as long as I can remember. I usually start off in 2nd gear the first couple times in the morning. Once the car warms up, the chatter goes away.

I get horrible wheel hop on wet/icey roads. From a complete stop in first gear, car warm or cold, I get insane hopping on the passenger side. At first I was a lil worried just like you, but now Im just used to it :P

When I feel it coming on I usually punch it a lil harder to get a spin going and let off once Im moving.

same here, i usually let it warm up abit to make it easier.
at least it reminds us how grabby the RA's clutch is right? better than a soft one, for me anyway.

Not to sound argumentative, but it's still a fairly soft clutch, the clutch is just grabby when it's cold, it still doesn't clamp with all that much force. It does fine stock though, obviously.
