If any of you are interested in an RPW header combo check my sig. I'm letting it go for a good price and I have pictures of it. PM me if you have questions.

the IM wont change the sound. The header sounds too loud and raspy without putting in a cat IMO, but i did the catback exhaust at the same time. if you still have the stock exhaust it may still sound good without the cat.

header/DP high-flow cat and RRM exhaust sounds kick A**! nice gains too.

So far I have added:
Power Adders?
- Injen SRI
- RRM Downpipe for stock header w/Magnaflow HF CAT (not sold anymore unfortunately....GREAT unit)
- RRM/Magnaflow CatBack
- RRM Underdrive Pulley
Misc
- RRM Motor Mounts
- RRM Clutch SS Line

To finish and install
- Custom Ported and Polished Head (have core already)
- Custom Ported and Polished Intake Manifold (have core already)

Is the car loud ? YES ...........Do I care ? NO

With the latest addition of the RRM Motor Mounts and Clutch Line, this car is NOTHING like the RalliArt I drove off the lot 3 months ago...lol

I will give my personal opinion as to how I rate my MODS from best to...well, not best....lol

#1 - RRM UDP
#2 - Injen SRI
#3 - Downpipe w/ Magnaflow CAT (would be #2 if full header...90% of gains anyways, so no big deal)
#4 - RRM/Magnaflow CatBack System

It's a little hard to rate the MODS due to them complimenting each other once others are added and such.

The Pulley is a no brainer. The exhaust gets better and better as you replace more of it though, so it's unfair for me to like the DP w/cat more so than the CatBack, because I put them on at different times and I think they help each other work better.

Also, the Motor Mounts are a MUST. I waited to buy them till nearly last and I wish I would have ordered them first, because I love the way the car feels now because of them.

The clutch line, I think can wait. The only reason I ordered it was because it fit in the motor mount box and didn't cost any more for shipping......not a real priority though.

The last 2 things that I will be doing to my N/A motor in preparation for FI will be a P+P Intake and P+P Head, as I have cores for each sitting at home, off the car, right now just waiting to get done. Then I will be finished.

I opted for the OLD RRM Downpipe, as I figured that for the price to get it used locally, it made no sense to buy a new RRM Header. I wanted to keep the stock header, so that is the route I went.

I have planned it, so that when I order my RIPP SDS, the only MOD on my car that will go to waste, is the RRM pulley, as everything else stays on the car and will help the SC to work better Now, if March would just hurry up and get here so that they will make the SDS's available for sale again....lol

Hope that helps a bit.
Allan

There is no future value in a Turbo prebuilt from one of the 2 manufacturers....that, and I can not justify paying 2x what the kits are worth. A super charger is worth on average, about DOUBLE what a Turbo charger is worth.....and the Supercharger kit is $400 cheaper....go figure

^^ Agree, I would love a supercharger but I wouldn't mine a turbo, but to me Supercharged>Turbocharged. Not trying to begin a fight about this just sharing my opinions. That Cobalt SS S/C sounds SICK!

It's not a matter of starting a fight......I just can't understand why more people with RalliArts are not Supercharged vs being Turbo'd if you are shelling out approximately $4000 for a kit anyways.

Everyone tries to make the argument that a SC is 'parasitic'....WHO CARES. It will never steal enough HP to even matter and you will never be short of running a 'SAFE' 250HP at the wheels.

The Super Charger...
- is easier to install, or less installation costs.
- less overall maintenance.
- longer overall component life.
- cheaper overall initial cost.
- less modifications required to the car.
- puts power into the 'driveable' range....who drives around @ 6000 RPM all the time to maximize their Turbo's output ? I want power at IDLE.
- less chance of failure due to custom part failure (the turbo is a LARGE KIT to install, the SC is NOT)

I just can't believe that more people went with RRM over RIPP's product.....and because of that, has made the SC kit unavailable for a short time......but it will be back in March and I will be ordering one ASAP.

I mean, it's nothing against anyone here, especially RRM......but look at all of the SDS powered customer vehicles on RIPP's website.....they have to be doing something right ? don't they ?

Now remember, I am speaking stricktly about the RalliArt at this time....

I think that more people found it easier to go with RRM because of their history with the 4G94 cars....but let's face it, the MIVEC 2.4 was new to everyone and nothing found out, knowledge wise, could have translated from the 4G94 to the 4G69, so it was new for all of the speed shops.

I frankly do not want to replace a dozen parts, then wait for header and pipe leaks due to age.
I want to bolt on the SuperCharger, replace a belt from time to time and still have a great stock-ish exhaust on the car in 5 years.

The true test to the 'fight' will become more appearant in a few years.

Let's see how the Turbo'd R/A's stack up against the Supercharged R/A's in 5 years of life on the road and how many times who has replaced major components, headers, pipes and such and who is still just using their FACTORY headers and such, then compare repair and maintenance purchases and bills to keep the cars as daily drivers.

Like I said, no offence.....I have simply made my decision and hope others will as well.

Not much difference in installation time when compared to mine (RPW)
- less overall maintenance.
Clean the pod filter, oil change every 5000klm... these are things that everyone does anyway regardless of type of power
- longer overall component life.
not if you are pumping hot exhaust air back into the engine
- cheaper overall initial cost.
I think it would be the same
- less modifications required to the car.
But that is dependng on how much hp you are chasing too
- puts power into the 'driveable' range....who drives around @ 6000 RPM all the time to maximize their Turbo's output ?
Actually mine runs at max output as early as 4250rpm @10psi and the turbo starts spooling up at 2500rpm
I want power at IDLE.
Power at idle while that sounds like it might be good you will use much more fuel than a turbo when even just cruising around as you are always on boost of some kind, then you have the traction issue, but while the rpms are low you will only be getting a proportion of the max boost till you rech higher rpms

- less chance of failure due to custom part failure (the turbo is a LARGE KIT to install, the SC is NOT)

Actually my kit is no larger than the S/C kit the only differences is that one is intercooled and one is not - mine however is air /water/air barrel intercooled which has almost no piping coming from the radiator apart from some heater hoses

I just can't believe that more people went with RRM over RIPP's product.....and because of that, has made the SC kit unavailable for a short time......but it will be back in March and I will be ordering one ASAP.

But to maximise s/c power you will need to add headers and exhaust anyway same as the Turbo converssions being offered

Look at the physical requirements.....remove the front end to fit/mount intercooler, change 3/4 of the car's exhaust, run all intercooler tubing....and so on. You can't possibly believe that the install time is the same for both the S/C kit and the Turbo kit.... now can you ?

Well, someone just got quoted about $7000 CDN (about $6100 USD) to get a FULL RPW system that includes a Piggy and intercooler.....NOT EVEN CLOSE, and the RIPP kit is still about $300-$400 cheaper than an RRM Turbo kit that sells for only $4300 USD that already includes EVERYTHING YOU NEED (like the S/C kit)......then add DOUBLE the labor time to do the installation of the Turbo when compared to the Supercharger Kit (see above points) and hope you have money to PAY PAY PAY if you are unable to do the work yourself.

HHhmm....check again. Exhaust components (3/4 the car) including exhaust manifold/turbo header, all IC piping, IC iteself....the S/C has NONE of that to worry about, let alone a Turbo header that will fall apart in 2 years.

Honey, our cars come with a FACTORY 'shorty' style header right off the lot and there is no restriction......Everyone adds a cat-back as well....so that can't even be considered an issue or argument for either side of the debate....so it's out of the equation. I added an RRM Down Pipe w/magnaflow High Flow Cat to my system with a RRM/Magnaflow Cat-Back system......but then again.....NOT REQUIRED and done BEFORE even considering Forced Induction......

Can you install a Turbo kit without getting under the car ? NO (unless you are a very skinny Woman/Little Girl....lol

Can you install a Turbo Kit's Intercooler without pulling off the front end and midifying the crash bar/safety features of the car ? NO

Can you complete 100% of your install WITHOUT a lift/hoist, just from under an open hood ? NO...yet with a Super Charger Kit...you are able to

Put 2 cars side-by-side and start the install at the same time ( 1 Turbo Kit and the other Super Charger Kit). Who do you think will be done first ? Who does not have to run IC tubing, pull the front end for IC fitment, get under the car to change the exhaust components, plus additional install of header, Wastegate and accosiated piping....
EXACTLY.......

You have to be realistic. The Super Charger kit requires NO, 0, NADA modifications to the vehicle, no structure mods to get an IC to fit, NO exhaust mods, other than relocating the battery to where the factory Air Box usually goes.....THAT'S IT.

I am not defending any manufacturer here either...so nothing against anyone. I am defending LOGIC, INSTALLATION COSTS, VALUE.....that's it.

Allan
