Air/exhaust set up.

I know I've asked something similar before, but I forget the responses and it's been a long time since I asked (new stuff's come out since then).

Some of you may already have set it up the way you want, but for those of you who haven't yet and who plan on doing so -- what kind of exhaust set up would you go with if you had the money? What brand? And why would you choose that particular brand/design/setup?

Merely a "what would you do/what have you done" topic.

i bought a magnaflow muffler and did a custom axel back setup. it was low in cost and sounds good. if your looking into a catback you could go with rrm, ultimate racing, greddy, etc., or you could buy a muffler and do a custom catback which a lot of guys here have done. IMO you really dont need a catback seeing how rrms turbo RA only uses their axelback, just some stuff to think about.

I would've gone with an AEM SRI.

Wouldn't change what I've done to my exhaust. Magnaflow muffler (RRM) and a magnaflow axleback on stock piping.

i know it probably depends on where you get it done, but how much does a custom axleback run? and did you do it yourself or have a shop do it?

i went with the AEM SRI its a nice piece, easy to install and comes with the dry filter which is nice, also use's the factory induction tube to help bring a little bit of air to it while you are on the move, then i went Magnaflow CBE, mostly because the garage screwed up the factory pipe, you loose a little bottom end though with this set,so i added the UDP and all is well once again. I had a shop do the muffler but instal on the intakes is a piece of cake even for newbies like me.

i got the injen cai and my rrm catback is coming in next week. i might change my intake into a short ram because its so damn hard trying to get to the filter since its under the car. whats so special about the aem one besides that its got the dry filter?

The reason I want the AEM shortram is because of where it places the filter. It's the only one I've seen that puts the filter where I think it should be, in that open pocket behind the battery where the airbox used to be. Both Injen's and RRM's put it right up against the engine, which makes no sense to me.

I have an axel back thats a bit different then most. I had the pipe setup to run under the axel instead of over, plus I had the muffler setup on the nice angle. JDM YO...hahhha. But for real, it looks and sounds sweet. I'll make a post with pics later when it stops raining.

i have a 2 1/2 inch cat back custom exhaust i got at a local muffler shot. It cost 200 dollars if i provided my own muffler (which i did) Im using a Borla 3 inch muffler on the 2 1/2 in catback. Performs great and i think its the best sounded exhaust i heard on a non-evo lancer yet. I use this setup w/ an injen CAI and i dont know which i liked better, the "spooling" of the intake at 3000 rpms, The roar of the intake at 6000 rpms. or the low booming growl of my exhaust...

Now adays i have a turbo and the best sound is the sound of everybody crapping there pants in the passanger seat
