what did girlfreind break
so i let my girlfreind drive my car to teach her how to use a standard, well we were at a stop and i think she may have put it into third and tried to go again, not being very good with a standard when it started to jump and stall she just dumped the clutch and as the car stalled there was i big clunk before it died, this set off a check engine light. The car seems to drive fine but i know something must be wrong with the noise it made and the light does anyone have an idea?
stalling the car like that will sometimes cause random codes, such as misfire. have the code pulled to see what it was. Your car should be fine though, I doubt the clunk is as related to the CEL as you think.

I would just reset the ecu by taking the battery terminal off for a while, should clear the check engine light, I doubt there is anything seriously wrong with the vehicle. Best of luck!
the guy who told you to reset the ECU gave you ignorant advice, you should have the code pulled for your records. If the same code is set again next time you can show a pattern. If you never know what code was thrown you don't know what the car is telling you. Basically he is telling you to ignore your check engine light, that's how women end up stranded on the side of the road man.

Autozone pulls engine codes for free if you don't have a scan gauge like I do.
Likely a misfire but would be nice to know for sure.

Yea.. its probably nothing, my girlfriend did the same thing except with first gear. I got some major whiplash and i had the CEL on for a couple days, then it finally went off. It ran fine though even with the light on. But its ok, she made up for the light later on
When i pulled the cel code it said "check blinker fluid". Just top her off. You should be all set.
