camshaft question...

i plan on buying the rrm cam but a friend of mine brought up a good point so i decided to ask the experts...does rrm include valve springs and retainers with the cam...if not were would i buy them...how much of a power gain will i be looking at with my current setup (CAI, under drive pulley, and custom 2.5" catback exhaust)...this will probably be my final mod to my daily, as the parts for it are pricey and im also looking for a project car...looking for an s14 240sx or a mid 90s mirage( gonna convert into an evo 5 or 6)...well thanks in advance for the help...

It's very doubtful that the changes to the profile for the cam are big enough to warrant new valve springs. And as long as the installer is careful and organzied he can reuse the pieces he took out of your original head.

I don't see anything to tune for the cams and the mods you already have.

This.

And our engine doesn't rev high enough to need stiffer valve springs. Now, if you wanted to build your engine to rev to 9k, then, yeah.

If the valve springs and retainers being reused bothers you, you can always buy new OEM. As posted above, you most likely will never rev high enough to necessitate them.

About cam or intake manifold...
save a few more weeks and buy both.

well the only reason i want another car to fix up is because my RA is my DD and i dont wanna make it my race car either, i mean i know alot of you guys have them set up that way, but so cal. is very strict when it comes to imports and cars that look fast...and i know that my project car wont be street legal, i can guarentee that...i guess we'll see what happens...

its not really that their strict on cars that look fast but more strict on how their driven. if you drive like a your on a track 24-7 of course youll get in trouble! ive lived in socal all my life, and the cops in my area are more after you if your EXTREAMLY loud and driving at night or are driving like your racing every car on the road.

yeah, i hear you souless, but the cops in my area are just ahole in general, ive been pulled over countless times because of my exhaust, not just because its loud, but because it stands out, its a big muffler...i dont really want to build up my daily, just incase if something breaks or goes wrong, id be screwed...i dont have another ride...
