Intake Question
I have the RRM SRI and I have heard from many people on these forums that due to the heat of the engine that the RA is prone to heat soak with this intake.
I was wondering is there anyone out there that sells a heat shield that would fit this intake? Also is there a way to channel cooler air towards my SRIs filter?
Keep in mind that I have an Auto RA so the RRM CAI is out of the question cause I've heard it doesnt fit. I'm happy with the SRI and I was wondering if there was a solution to my problem without having to pour tons more money into it.

You might try using the snorkle portion of the stock intake to bring some cooler air in. There some pics on this forum.
I think I remember seeing a DIY article on a heat shield. If its not on the RA forum try looking in the Lancer/ OZ DIYs.

I've been wanting to do that with the stock snorkle but I'm unable to find it and believe it was thrown out while doing a garage cleaning. I've heard of people using aluminum ducting but I'm not so sure how well that works and its stability while moving at higher speeds for channeling air.
For the heat shield I've been looking and haven't found anything on the OZ forums yet. If anyone has a link that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for trying to help out with that portion but I'm more concerned with how to get a heat shield cause the ducting I'm not so worried about cause I think I'll be able to do that without a problem.
I have a 5sp and have been thinking short ram vs cold air intake. Our cars bring in air from the front and the way the short ram filter is positioned, I dont know if a heat shield would help. If you could swap the battery position with the position of intake filter, then the heat shield might section off that part of the engine bay. Then you could bring in cool air from the driver side fender.
If you could fabricate an intake box and use the stock snorkle that would be sweet.
Check out ARC for some ideas, they makes an intake box for the Evo, but pricey.
Good luck with this.
