Tried the piggyback
Tried the piggyback
Today I've installed my piggyback on my 2006 RA. I've installed my R4 software and plug the piggy on the software. Everything works fine at this point.
I've put 10 everywhere in the maps (A&B) and saved the maps on the piggy.
Excited, I whent outside and tried my RA.....1st Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, 2nd on the floor brrrrrrrrrrrr....but when the MIVEC whas suppose to kick down...it was the the same then before...I didn't notice the power of the MIVEC!!! I was in regular fuel.
What do you think it was??? Too much gas for my mods whit the 10 decimal? Do I need to go with 9.6 9.7???
My mods for the engine : Injen CAI, K&N filter, custom downpipe with HFC, RRM axel back, RRM UDP

I've been thinking about getting the piggyback ecu for my ra. I recently bought my ra last and so far love it( beat my '01 focus). I have an injen cai (w/ hydroshield) otw now and should get it on in a couple days. The other 2 things i want are an udp and the piggypack. One thing i was told about the piggyback is u need to use prem. gas. Idk keep us posted i really want to know how it works out for you
/facepalm
ok, the piggy is a signal calibrator, it amplifies or softens the signal coming from the MAF. it does this by a base 10 rule. the number 10 correlating to no re calibration of the signal at that rpm level when the original signal is at that corresponding voltage. numbers lower than 10 (i.e. 9.6) tell the piggy to make the signal smaller, then sending it to the ecu, and "fooling" it into thinking there is a different amount of air going into the manifold than there is, so it injects more/less fuel. this ability to control the amount of fuel injected is how we "tune" our air/fuel ratio. (DO NOT TUNE without a wideband o2 sensor)
The piggy should've came from RRM with the base map on it (the map with the 9.x's all over it)
when you changed them all to 10's, you completely erased your base map, and now have your ecu working as if the piggy weren't there.
DO NOT CHANGE THE NUMBERS WITHOUT A WIDEBAND INSTALLED, THIS IS HOW YOU'LL WRECK YOUR ENGINE
email rock and see if you they can email you a screen shot of what the base map is, or see if someone off here can give you their custom map

The thing I wanted to know is why do my MIVEC jsut doesn't work at all when I put 10th everywhere!!! The signal run my motor too rich?
Trending Topics
I know all that but I was thinking that the base map of RRM was 10th everywhere. This I will go on a dyno to tune it but right now I just installed it. There's maps map here on evom that I could use but the tune on the dyno will be the best!!!

base map is the one RRM sent you with the 9.x's all over it, and it is a conservative map.
also make sure after you install it, reset ecu and go through proper steps to allow it to relearn fuel curves.
You'd better reset the ECU every day.
I know I've said it a number of times, but piggybacks will not work correctly on this vehicle unless it is a very mild NA tune. I designed one and ran it through the tests and if you modify one parameter by even a few percent it will throw off a whole set of other parameters.
