shift bushings?

Hi, I have been looking into getting some aluminum shift bushings for my 04 ralliart, but i can't seem to find a definite answer on which ones will work.
I know that one of the evo equivalent will work, but i've been told that the evo 8 will work and not the evo 9. Someone else told me the exact opposite though. I just want to get it cleared up so i can go buy some and install them

Which bushings are you looking at getting, the shifter base ones, or the under-hood ones?
I was under the impression that the issue isn't between the Evo 8 and 9, but rather the GSR (5-speed) or the MR (6-speed); we'd need the 5-speed parts.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
As far as I know, this is correct. The shifter cage (in car) and under hood are 5 sp parts.

This made a slightly sloppy short shifter have a tighter feel and I found it shifted a bit easier as well. I combined it with an authority short shift/counterweight knob, and cleaned/greased the crap outta the components when I took it all apart. The overall difference is NIGHT and DAY... almost feels like a different gearbox.

I just pulled my kartboy bushing set out of my lancer (then into my evo) and it took me no more than an hour to remove the center console, remove the kartboy bushings and install the oem ones, then to do the same on the evo...
When doing so it helps to remove the shifter out of the assembly... Just remember which way the washers and everything else goes.

well, i ran into a little problem...
when trying to remove my center console, the screw that is under the ashtray looks liek it has had a screw driver tip broken off in it
does nayone know of anything that would possibly get that out of there? besides drilling it out?

its definitely the tip of a screw driver, but it's in there for keeps. i've tried using those little magnets that are ridiculously strong, a box cutter, a standards screw driver, a kitchen knife. pretty much anything i could think of. its not coming out of there
I have been digging up some info on this bushing and does someone know of the AMS shift bushings fit? the reason I am asking is because I thought that you only need 2 under the hood bushings. Is that correct or do you need 4.

I bought and installed the AMS underhood bushings in my '06 Ralliart. The AMS package says "AMS EVO 8-9 5 SPD. SHIFTER BUSHINGS". Perfect fit, they appear to be anodized aluminum (athough it doesn't say 'anodized' in their ad) and being a split design they only need to use the stock retaining clip, not like the popular brass items that require an extra circlip to fit - it's tight for your hands down there. Just use a bit of water-proof grease (can buy this at any motorcycle shop) and the AMS items should never cause wear or seize up.
Anodizing is a thin hard layer of ceramic (aluminum oxide) created like a skin on the base aluminum; the process is immersing the part in sulfuric acid while running current through the part, and the surface layer of the aluminum gets converted within an hour to several thou thick of aluminum oxide. This ceramic is inert and extremely hard and will not corrode when in contact with the stock steel housing the shifter bushings fit into.
I actually have a small home unit I made while working for a company where we had a homemade anodizing tank pumping out lots of little anodized aluminum parts.
Brass (copper+zinc) will generate corrosion with the steel cable housing due to dissimilar metals making contact in a damp atmosphere when the grease eventually leaves.
That's why I would recommend the AMS items. Again, it doesn't say they are anodized, but I believe they are. Maybe someone can confirm?
p.s. I see you are from Alberta. I bought mine via a Canadian website supplier "RTM Racing" in Hamilton, ON. He also stocks the shifter base bushings - excellent knowledge and service, just email him. No delays or border fees or duties bulls**t. And check out his home-made shift knobs - I got one and love it, will send you pics if you want to see it installed in a Ralliart.
