Header Set-up

I'm currently running the OEM header with RRM v1 downpipe. Has anyone who has had that set-up and now running the RRM header & dp give their opinion of one vs the other?

RRM discontinued the DP after they started doing the header, if I recall correctly. The header did offer some gains over the DP, but I don't know that it'd be enough to justify the upgrade. This information could be older than dirt though, so may want to just check with Rock. He's usually pretty helpful with that kind of stuff.

Yes there were gains of the header/dp combo over dp alone but like ^ said I don't believe enough tp justify the whole new setup. Dp is the most constrictive part of the exhaust system so since you opened that up already I think you're good for a while

I don't have the RRM one, I have the OBX header/dp combo. Since there is no cat on my car also...its insanely loud and raspy. Low rpms are a nice deep tone, but above 3,500 it gets raspy. Not sure how the RRM one sounds without a cat.

Ultimately a well crafted header\extractor will be better performaning than stock. FWIW, I think the RPW 4-1 header is the best on the market. I base this off of my readings and experience from my air-cooled VW world on headers. Plus in the air-cooled VW world a lot of R & D has been done on those engines. After all, the air-cooled VW is the original tuner car.

I've been asking questions alot about the three main header vendors out there for our cars. OBX, RRM and RPW. Based off of the information that RPW has provided, I have concluded that they offer a quality product and know their stuff. Not to say that RRM doesn't, but they do not seem to put enough info on their products to make a well informed purchase.

A well informed buyer is a smart buyer.

I have been using the obx header/downpipe for two and a half years now. for the first half a year i was catless. Then i had a high flow cat welded in and used a turbo muffler and it sounds great. Once warmed up its not loud at all and has a nice sound at higher rpms. Honestly i didnt feel much of a perfomance loss after having the cat and muffler put on, but did feel a gain from opening up the downpipe. But i dont see there being huge differences between obx, rrm, or rpw. If there is its nothing you can feel.

I'd have to get under the car. It essentially mates to OEM header with the 4-2 design.
