hell yes, that is a great deal my friend.

do crack the old one open after you steal the mount brackets off it.

now would be a good time to rebuild the old tranny and put an LSD in it, then swap again when you feel like it.

Pissed
Had tranny dropped out in an hour. We go to split the casing an it wont come apart. We can only get it to open up about a quarter of an inch. Gotta take it to a tranny guy tomorrow to show me whatever trick it is to split this damn thing.

there is two bolts inside the clutch housing, then you take all the bolts with the ***** on the end out, open up the black plate at the end of the input shaft, and if i remember correctly, you can remove the reverse idler gear from there, then put the tranny clutch housing down, and the "non differential side of the output shaft there is a black cap about an inch and a half in diamter, stab it through the middle with a screw driver, and pop it out, remove the snap ring, and you'll hear the output shaft drop with a clunk, you should be able to split it at that point, make sure you remove the shifter linkage box thing. after that there roll pins holding the rods for the shift forks, pop those out, and you should be able to remove them, after that the two shafts come right out, and only the differential is left in the case.

i should have took more pics of mine while i was doing it. It's not hard

hope this helps...

One other thing. This whole stabbing the plate with a screwdriver....Does it damage the piece?
First time ive ever read to "stab with screwdriver an pop out" in a manual..lol

Oh an do you have to take out that gear in the end?
Im not trying to get into the innerworkings atm i just want to swap the case so i can get my car runnin again.

the gear in the end has something to do with reverse, when it's engaged it will turn the output shaft in the opposite direction i'm pretty sure...and i took mine out before i split the case if i remember correctly.

Yes stabbing the plastic case cap will ruin it, you'll need to buy another...it is part of the procedure to stab it, and as careful as you could possibly be, you would probably still damage it, and you don't want it to leak, i purchased all new oil seals for everything.

Good luck with the assembly, check PM's

Sometimes it takes a little time and driving to get the new lube to flush out the old. Give it a few days, and if it doesn't improve, try a different fluid.

Did you use the Max Gear 75w90, or the Synchromax? If you used Max Gear, try the Synchromax.

Pretty sure that means it's the Max Gear.

So if it doesn't get better in a few more days, try RP Synchromax or GM Synchromesh.
