Cherry Bomb Turbo on my 2004 RA

Hi guys,

I'm about to purchase a Cherry Bomb Turbo (used) muffler and the specs are attached.

Would this fit my 2004 RA? I know Cranswick has one of these but I don't know about the measurements.

PS: I have a stock exhaust system.

Thanks guys!

I'll let Crans reply, but the things to consider are 1) the inlet pipe diameter (it's weird, between 2 1/8" and 2 1/4" but a 2 1/4" will do) and 2) the inlet is offset to one side while the outlet tip is on the opposite side so if you want to cut off the original and just plug n' play then get that configuration.

hmm..those are really good points..what do u mean by "cut off the original and just plug n' play"..are u talking about the original muffler that's on it right now? i was thinking of doing that but is it worth it? my original is still almost mint..no rust or anything on it..this car has been taken care off greatly by the previous owner..i want a nice deep tone tho..i think this Cherry Bomb should do the trick
thanks for your help RalliartN!
let's see what Crans has to say about this lol

just got back from nova scotia today...5,000+ kilometers and many tanks of gas...can't say i stayed of the boost either with a loaded trunk and rough east coast back roads...

anyways, mine is turbo-87706 it's offset-offset 9.75" x 4.5" with 2.5" in and out, but if you want 2.25" which will actually fit the stock exhaust, get part number 87704...offset-offset will fit the best.

the nice thing about the cherry bomb turbo is it offers a nice tone, without blowing the ear drums of the pedestrians standing by....

but what if u DO wanna blow up bystander eardrums..?
lol...jk...

but really..did the muffler u guys got have hangers..?..

ive thought about putting in a new one(mine still ok, but like most of us..just not quite loud enough or the right tone), but i really dont wanna have it drag down the rest of the exhaust w/ the extra weight and no hanger..
(i guess i can get one of those universal hanger kits tho...just too lazy and broke rt now...)

you just make hangers and weld them on, or have a muffler shop install it, and they'll hang and align it...

I paid a bit over $100 at a muffler shop to cut off original muffler, welding + hangars for new aftermarket muffler that I provided, and cut out crushed factory midpipe and weld in new round piece of pipe. The guy did it without dismantling the original exhaust system (I didn't expect that so I have new oem Mitsu gaskets sitting here in a box).

Yeah, Crans made quite a find with that Cherry Bomb, I really like the sound.

id rather not take it top a shop to save $ tho...i have most of the necessary tools but im not a welder...(nor do i have access to one rt now)..
rt now im actually getting some pieces together to cut out the flex pipe(probably thursday) and get rid of my horrible rattle(well, one of them)..

i have some scrap exhaust pipe(happens to be the exact size of the oe piping) and some u-clamps...hopefully it works...and i bought a pipe expander to make it slide on so i can clamp it over(but i got the wrong size...too big)

on my old car i got my old muffler removed, a new straight thru glasspack muffler(i provided) welded on and a hanger put on it for $30...but the shop went under a few years ago...they were great people...i even had a guy rear end me once(not like that...i mean his car hit mine) he bent the tip a bit and broke the weld on the hanger, so i told the guy id charge him for that(the only damage), i went to the shop and they fixed it for free and wrote up a fake bill for a $100 repair so i could charge the guy...
