Question MSD Ignition

I've never messed with MSD or any other ignition upgrades for any of my other cars I've had but I have been curious as of late. I was reading about some of the MSD ignitions on a few websites and they say they will give you good hp gains. What exactly does the MSD ignition do. Are any of you for MSD? I just want a few peoples comments on what it is, what it does, is it a good thing to have? Thanks in advance.

in my opinion, an ignition is a total waste of money. The only cars I would get a new ignition on are old muscle cars. I actually have an MSD ignition in my 65 dart. But new cars ignitions are fine, I would spend my money on something else. You will not get any HP gains, and if you do it will not be noticeable.

mitsubishi is also known for strong stock ignition systems. I agree that it is a waste of money on our cars.

i would only get one if you have a turbo and need to retard the timing to help prevent detonation. but as far as a stock car it would be a waste of money unless you have $500 or so to throw into your car i would get alot of other things be for that like a cai ,exhaust upgade etc...
