Weird sound?
Apparently after I *****ed and said itd cost me 2800 for a rental for that long through enterprise (the dealer said they couldn't loan me car because I didn't have "Full" coverage). And that I brought it to the dealer to avoid problems and yet they still managed to create one. I'm trying since i'tll cost me that much for a rental for them to call it even at the transmission work. But, after I sent them a quote of the rental, I got a call saying they'll have my ecm in 2 weeks, rather than 100 days backorder. TBH and I'm no expert, but how do you short a ecm, unless the voltage drops below 13v? so use a battery charger? <-- just what i've heard from my mechanic at work. I have a training class at another store near the dealership(45 minutes away from home) on tuesday.. so I'm going to stop by and check out my transmission and my car and ask some questions...
Is there other things other than what cranswick said about a printed price list that I should be asking?

well with the voltage dropping, it would fail the flash...to short it out, you would need to actually make contact with something that had power (any circuit) and the chassis, with the same conductive material...or if they bench flash it, they could potentially have hooked it up incorrectly...they may never tell you how it happened, but you should definitely not have to pay for a rental car because they screwed up...I would get an example of what they mean by "full coverage"...it's not an insurance claim, it's a repair for something that was destroyed by their negligence. Do they mean warranty? do they brick the ECU of every car that's out of warranty as a scam to make more money? wtf is going on here? I've had terrible service from a mitsu dealership, but not that bad...I feel like part of the story is missing...
as far as full coverage goes cranswick... they don't carry their own insurance for loaner cars.. For me to be covered in one of Mitsu's loaner cars, "i" have to have full coverage car insurance. I only have basic liability which is the cheapest form of car insurance in the states. Which means yes, I can get a loaner car from any place like enterprise or any other rent a car place, but through the mitsu dealer I'd need to have full coverage. Trust me I feel like they're leaving out information to, but I definitely wont be leaving the the dealership without my car and a damn good discount.
oh ok, not really sure if that applies up here or not, it's silly seeing how to be "fully covered" as I understand depends on the vehicle, not the person...but in any case they should be eating the bill on the rental, for any days above and beyond the repair you actually brought it in for, since the only reason you need it for that long is cause they fried your ECU.
then we still have the issue of parts? did you mentioned to them that their $1,900 parts list actually only costs $300?

Yea.. sadly in ohio Car insurance is covering the person not the vehicle :/ So yea poopy on me. lol But its 1900 Counting labour. I have my training class tuesday, and will be near the dealership so I'm going to stop, inspect my transmission ask lots of questions, and ask for a price breakdown of everything. I appreciate all the help cranswick. I miss it so much.. :/
yeah sounds like a bearing gone bad to me too, Try to steer to one side and not give it gas and steer to the other side and not give it gas to see if the sound changes at all, doesn't sound like a bad wheel bearing (thats usually a dragging sound) but it won't hurt to check.. Also, loose lug nuts cause that kind of noise, its happened to me.. so recheck everything before taking it to a shop. GL
*update*
I stopped by the dealership today. They say my ecm should be there any day now(lets hope so). As far as a printout for price stuff goes.. they have it labeled as 500 something in parts, and 1300 in labour. But as far as a breakdown for each part they said they couldn't do that. As far as my transmission goes everything does look pretty good except some extra wear on the reverse gear, and it sticks alittle. Told him to just take that apart and clean it up. I really hadn't had any problems with reverse unless I had parked the car on an steep incline the night before, and i'd just have to put it in neutral and coast back an inch and itd pop right into.

as an update.. they had been dodging my calls constantly.. finally got ahold of them... someone else other than the service advisor.. and basically found out that when they told me the pcm should be here any day... was entirely a lie.. and that its still on backorder for 100 days..
I've deffered myself from bombing the place.. or placing thermite on a few of their evo's..
I just miss my damn car, and am still furious that they're causing me so many problems dealing with trying to find rides etc.. and when I *****ed at them telling them thats why I had told them no twice on doing the recall work on the speed sensor... (yet they insisted)... and the fact thats why I brought it to the dealer to not encounter problems.. and the fact that they promised my car back to me in 7 days.. and now its been almost a month with another possible two months of waiting.. im ****ing furious.. already submitted a thing to abc 6 on your side (news investigation- since i've already been lied to 2-3 times).. and bbb may be coming, but I am not paying them one cent on any of this work... Everyone please don't go to Ricart Mitsubishi if you live in the area of ohio.

Sorry this is going so badly. Have you tried calling Mitsubishi directly ? Maybe write them as well.
Dealers act like they are so special and God's gift to cars when frequently they're barely competent.
Just buy one off carpart.com and use till the new one comes.

already tried looking for one. but as a new update.. supposedly the new pcm was manufactured in japan and finally sent out.. and it had arrived in one of their regional parts places in either new jersey or atlanta yesterday, and that the pcm will arrive and my car will finally be finished up tomorrow or the next day. Its now been a month and a half that they've had my car, on a open recall I told them I originally didn't want to do (and they persisted they didn't like cars leaving the shop with recalls and that they could perform it easy), when all I was bringing it there for in the first place was a tranny rebuild. I've lost my gf of two years over me having to drive her car and she had lost her job.. and then I didn't have a car to drive and the dealership still could not give me a rental.. and so.. when I arrive to the dealership I will be dropped off, and they will have to be ok with me not paying them a dime. They've put me through hell.. i just want my baby back.
New update.. Told today now that the part is NOT actually in america.. so here goes lie number 3 or 4 they've told me.. and that the car will be done by end of week.. I told the service advisor she needed to talk to a higher up to get the OK for warrantying me out everything, and I got the call from him.. He than tried to tell me that since they offered me a rental car they can't compensate me for anything except maybe 100 dollars off.. And when I tell him that shorting out that pcm was the tech's fault, I was told that it was not the mechanic's fault and that the pcm was bad and thats why it shorted when he did to reprogram. Number one, I don't buy that at all.. my pcm was fine before they did the "recall" and if its true, than why wasn't I told or warned prior that that could happen.. and also if so. than why didn't they already have the part ordered and on the way just incase before they did it? .. So I told him that I'd be ok paying parts, but that was it.. and he told me If I didn't pay them I wouldn't get my keys... so I asked to be transferred above him(hes apparently a sales manager), and still awaiting a call back from angie (whom I looked up and is also a sales manager so hes not transferring me to someone higher up)... I guess worst case is when I'm told its done.. I'm getting dropped off there.. and if they do not allow me my keys I will go sleep on my car till they get tired of me being there or escort me out by police. I've never wanted to so badly to beat the **** out of someone but this whole situation is pissing me the hell off...
Now after talking to angie, things are alittle bit cleared up.. Apparently the recall for the speedsensor(updating the pcm), was the thing that was bad and that its technically mitsubishi's fault for the shorting of my pcm (i guess the update mitsu made for it was bad)... and that ricart was just following mitsu's procedure for the update.. but she said that she can't do all my stuff for free but she can do a discount for the amount of times they've lied about the part getting there etc.. etc... so shes supposed to follow up me with me tomorrow and tell me what she can do as far as pricing on my transmission rebuild. I will continue to let everyone know what is happening. Stay tuned. lol
