engine name
Um....you guys correct me if I'm wrong. But, the 4G63 is the engine that is still used in the Evo right? I thought that was a 2.0L not a 2.4 liter.
Having said that, if its true then it would be more then just a FEW mods like the MIVEC right?

I read the whole "4G63 modified code" from another post on the board.
I know for a fact that this engine is the modified big brother of the 2.4 they used in the Galant and Eclipse. Not sure if they're 4G63's or not. Time for some research!

Trending Topics
DSM's that carried the turbo charged 4g63:
90-94 1st gen eclipse/talon/laser/galant
95-99 2nd gen eclipse/talon (laser and the galant were dropped)
Not all of these cars were turbo charged tho only the ones with the following badging:
Eclipse: GST and GSX (awd)
Talon: TSi and TSi AWD
Laser: RS Turbo and RS Turbo AWD
Galant: VR4 (awd)
The rest of the dsms carried diferent engines, this peice has been copied and pasted from the dsm webring:
On 1G cars, there are two non-turbo engines: the SOHC 1.8L and the DOHC 2.0L. The 2.0L is based on the same 4G63 engine as the turbo models. It has higher compression pistons (9:1 vs 7.8:1) and no turbocharger or intercooler. The 1.8L is based on the 4G37 engine and also has 9:1 compression.
On 2G cars, there also also two non-turbo engines: the 2.0L and the 2.4L. The 2.0L is not based on the Mitsubishi 4G63 engine; rather it is based on the Chrysler 420A engine, which is why 2G NT owners share some parts, upgrades and procedures with other Chrysler products such as the Avenger/Sebring cars. The SOHC 2.4L is the Mitsubishi 4G64 engine, which is "sort-of" similar to the 4G63 engine used in the turbo models. The 4G64 was only offered in the Spyder convertible models.
Hope this helps with some of your guys confusion.
