fyi: tranny fluid

I just changed my transmission fluid from the stock fluid to Redline MT-90.

the manual states I needed to use GL4 75w85 or 75w90, so I got MT-90, which is 75w90

the gear shift was noticablity more notchy and it was hard to go into first and second.. drove it for a few days to see if it's weather related. It didn't go away.

So i talked to a few friends, and got 2 bottles of Redline MTL (75w80). Basically used 1 bottle of MT90 and 1 bottle of MTL plus topping up with the other bottle of MTL

it worked wonders.. shifts better than stock and it's silky smooth

Question

...funny, I've never come around to changing tranny fluid. Is there a drain bolt somewhere? I know I sound like an idiot right now, but it's one thing I've never tried before (and I don't care sounding like an idiot anyway)...

By the way, why'd you change your tranny oil??? Something wrong or just wanting it to **** better?

Thinker fluids make the shifts harder, but will prolong the life of the gears. However, thicker fluid can actually be bad if you live in cold climates. You don't need to worry though, redline is synthetic.

workz: i am changing all my fluids now because it's after my 2000km break in.. all synthetic all the way

mitsuralliart: but if it's so hard that i am forcing it, it can't be good.. the 1 to 1 mix is working pretty good

NEO RHD or BG Syncroshift II would be my choices for a synthetic tranny fluid. If they can make a DSM Tranny shift like butter they gotta be good

It's harder because there is thicker fluid in the way.
