the whole MIVEC switch was designed to be as seamless and un-noticeable as possible. That's why it won't kick you back like V-tec or I-Vtec does.

Honda is a bunch of dumbass's. They should have lowered the vtec point so that you have the optimal torque curve but they made a spike instead. Just 500-600 rpms lower would have been sufficient.

thats why we have hondata. they sell a reflash and fully reprogrammable ECU upgrade. the reflash alone will net you around 180HP to the wheels and 120tq(not great). and the torque is smothened out alot, and the vtec point is lowered with rev limiter raised

honda techs are not dumb azzes... they made the vtec point that high because when they do emission test with the government they dont rev it that high and thats how they get that ulev rating or whatever. i read that in honda tuning magazine.

"i read that in honda tuning magazine.". Always a reliable resource for government standards and the reasons behind them....

With a vtec switch at 6000 rpms, I seriously doubt it. Honda is first and formost an engineering company. Most Americans think of Honda's in terms of cars. With a motto "Performance First", you'd think the Vtec point would be in the optimal part of the powerband.

Who cares if 'vtec or i-vtech' give you that KICK or HIGH ENGINE NOISE, if your not moving anywhere it is worthless. You have to admit, if its not the sI, or rsx motors... than vtec on any other car is nothing but over-rated and enviormental friendly. A co-worker at my job got an o4 civic coupe (sohc vtec), well she gave me a ride and i never felt any "vtec", she was like its fast... feel that "vtec", didnt wanna bust on her, so I said "dam, thats sweet, vtec is nice", . Than I jump in my ralli-art and awwwww that engine sound at after 3500k sounds DAM SWEET and man id put car lengths on her sooooooo bad. I don't need a "vtec kick or 8500k rpm redline to know MIVEC is working. I know its working, the swift pull and my need to fill her up every 2days tells me, stay away from 3500k + RPMS.

I LOVE how the Mivec 2.4L sounds. I just love hearing it redline. It does NOT make the usual tinny/rattly noise. It is a deeper, growl.
I was really driving with my foot in the throttle yesterday. I used close to 1/4 tank on the way to work and back (same trip usually uses 1/8 tank). Of course, I was in a bad mood, that ALWAYS makes my driving interesting
