First off: mitsuskot, that is hands down the funniest post I've ever read on here.

Next: I've got 13,000+ miles on my RA and I only get 23-25mpg. It's funny that this post was made because I was just talking to a guy I work with yesterday who just bought an Outlander. He says he gets over 28mpg's. The Outlander has the exact same MIVEC engine in it as the RA. So someone please explain to me how an SUV that has the same under the hood and weighs more than the RA can get better gas milage.

Here is what other 4 bangers have in their tanks (googled)

Toyota Corolla S 130hp 13.2
Hyundai elantra GT 132hp 14.5
Mazda 3 160 14.5
Nissan Sentras 126/165/175 13.2

I guess the Nissans might have the same problems too when it comes to how many miles they get since they have the same size as ours.
The size is pretty standard for new compacts. Exact same size as an RSX, although an RSX has a small engine.
Next time I fill up with the light on I will see how many litres I fill up with, see how much farther I could have gone. I also go about 300-400 kilometers on a tank and I drive HARD.

Trade him for a tank of gas, and see what kind of mileage you get out of the Outlander.

He probably drives it MUCH more conservatively that you drive your car.

When the light first comes on, its 10-10.5 gallons to fill up. I don't do the metric system - sorry.

It isn't geared as agressively as us. We rev much higher on the highway.

I was right. I've been keeping it under 75 the last couple days, just to test the theory. I got 216 miles on the top half of the tank of gas. Stopped at a gas station at 237 miles, and 7.77 gallons filled it up. 30.5 mpg.

I'm fill up every 400km and its usually 38 or so litres to fill up at that point. Its what my old 95 Neon used to get, and considering how much more displacement the Ralliart engine has, thats pretty good

At half tank I get about 150-170 miles. How do I figure the mpg out? How big is our tank 13.2? Thanks.

I was at 216 miles at 1/2 tank when I got 30.5mpg. This tank, I'm not being so easy on, and I was only at 187 miles at 1/2 tank.

Fill your tank, drive a while, then fill it up again. You take the number of miles driven, and divide by gallons needed to fill it.

I wonder if there's a wire I can tap into to put an LED on, that'll tell me when MIVEC kicks in..?
