Yep...in rain, these things cannot hold whatsoever. Accelerate from a stop and push it just a little bit above 3500, and you will get HUGE wheelspin. It's just nuts.

Yeah, rain there is very little grip. I just have to hit the pedal quickly (not floor it, it's an automatic by the way) and the wheels break loose. Another thing, under WOT, the tires spin during the 1-2 shift (automatic). I have never had a car lose grip during an automatic shift. It's pretty cool that the auto has such sharp shifting, but the tires should hold the road better. I should put the michelin pilots from my sister's RSX on my RA. Basically identical (205/60/16) but they have a lot more grip.

hahha.... strangely enough, I noticed that tire spin on the Sportback automatic I tried out.

was coming out of a corner at slow speeds, stomped the throttle, fought the mild torque steer while the tires chirped!!

I was like... "uhhh... that's cool... I think..."

Now I know why it chirped. Tires suck :P

Anyone drive a RA and an OZ?

Im thinking about buying an RA front strut bar and Im wondering how much of a difference it would make.

Also, the lancer has pretty good handling compared to most cars. Ive driven my friend around who owns a mustang and he thinks its crazy how fast my car can take turns(compared to his mustang..)

It doesn't take much to lose traction in these tires, and that's dry weather. Don't even ask about the rain, let alone snow. I live right in the snow belt of Ohio. This is gonna be my first winter in my RA. I gotta feeling it's gonna be interesting.

I've been thru some snow w/ the RA - good luck. I HAD to use the emergency brake to make it turn!

Just to clarify: I think the Ralliarts come with either Goodyear RS-A's or Bridgestone Potenza RE92s (correct me if I'm wrong). Which are the ones that stink?

Or do they both stink? :P

they both stink. potenza's are a little better, but not really noticable. I went the route of picking up a winter car.. I found a 92 "imported for dodge" colt. brand new snows on it. the thing is mint and was driven by a priest for 60000 miles. not much for a 92. anyway i found it for $350, 8 dollars less than one payment on the RA. i popped the hood and the valve cover reads "Mitsubishi 12 valve". Cool stuff. 1.5L giving me 86 hp and 93 tq of pure heart pumping adrenalin....

ohh great dont even talk about the snow... i was planning on leaving the tires stock but i have to commute back & forth to work on a major highway and its really scary driving in snow b/c everyone is going fast and your trying to go slow...i just dont wanna slide into another car...thats what scares me the most...but ive had no problems in the rain with my car so if it gets bad in winter ill just buy new tires i guess

I had an old rear wheel drive ford ranger pos before I got my ralliart. Now that sucks in the snow. Anyway about the ra's handling last night I went to an empty parking lot and tryed to get the rear end to swing around under hard turning and all it did was understeer. I think the only way to get it to come around is to use the e-break. This car just wasn't built for drifting.

def not a drifter....its fwd =]. gotta 'swing' the back, not push it. much harder this way.

and yea, my stock tires chirp more than a flock of seagulls ("and i ruuuunnnn...."). ppl think i drive like an *** caus anytime a tire lifts just a bit i get a nice "SSSSKKKKKRRRRREEEECCCCHHH"! makes the car seem more ballsy tho

I get that too. My tires will squeek when I drive over the white painted line at an intesection when I'm not even trying to axcelerate fast. I'm trying to use them through the winter though so I can get somthing better in the spring.
