Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys were working on a CF EvoVIII style
hood for the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart? Also the 2005 Lancer (all
non-Evo Models) has the same body style as the 04 Ralliart Edition, so i was
wonderng if anything was in the works for those as well. I know alot of
people are waiting on a quality CF hood to be made for the beloved RA, and
it seems we are all looking forward to you releasing such a product. Any
info on time frame and est. price would be greatly appreciated.

We do have a carbon fiber hood for the 04 Lancers, but not for the Ralliart
Edition. I believe it carries a strut bar and it will hit the hood.

Damn this strut bar thing is becoming ridiculous! Can't they just copy the RA hood when they make a mold for the Lancer and be done with it?!? That way it would fit every Lancers... Who engineers those things anyway!?!

HUH??? So, they have a Hood for the 04 LANCER Evos or what??? I don't get it...

 

Not Evo's, the ES/OZ's... it just doesn't fit the RA because of the strut tower brace.

 

That company is full of it, if they say they make them even for OZ/ES lancers, then where can we buy them?? They told me over a month ago that they were going to be in in about a week, and that was back in early october. They still tell me that they are going to be ready "in a week or two".

Does anyone know if swapping the stock one for an a/m one like RRM or something will change the height at all...??? Will the hood still hit it!?!?!?

 

Just to let everybody know, i took off the strut bar for about a week or so to see if not having it on would affect anything, and to my suprise I didnt recognize anything in terms of handling. I go up windy mountain roads almost every day and didnt feel a thing. So taking off the strut bar wouldnt be that big of a deal. Just thought I would throw that in.

 

finding a low-profile brace could be another answer too...

 

Alright, my car's in the shop... And i talked to my guy down at T3 motorsports in boston about hooking me up with a cf hood. He called up some company, i'm assuming VIS.. and they said it would be released in 2 weeks for 375 or 345$ plus shipping... I would have bought it except for the fact that my body shop already ordered and painted the new OEM hood from mitsubishi... I'm assuming the loss of strut bar would have been necesary but i don't care about that, i'll just buy a lower profile one. So yea i just figured that i would fill you guys in on what i was hearing... Btw don't quote me on the price that's the price i got, not sure if VIS will keep their part on it... In the future i do plan on buying a cf hood, probably after the winter is over, but until now i'm running the stock one...

 

i got a 2004 lancer es with an rd design strut bar can i get the hood from vis or not

 

It looks like you can from the reply i got from VIS "READ FIRST POST". as long as you don't have a strut bar you should be fine.

its an aftermarket one but if they made the hood identical to the 04 es hood then it shouldnt matter if i got a strut bar or not becasue the hood closes perfectly with the strut bar
