MiVEC Compression is 9.5. I thinks thats pretty good for turbo purpose, you couldnt ask for much better than this I say.

I have faith that the 4G69 is gonna be better than most people think. Mivec is the way the company is going since GDI seems to have failed (though it was a pretty damn nice technology they had). With 2 versions of the 1.6 4g92 mivec and the 3.0 6a12 mivec, the 4G69 isn't exactly built from nothing. Now with the 3.6L mivec coming out and the 1.3 and 1.5 mivec already out in Japan, it kinda looks like Mitsu is confident to slap mivec on everything. I can't wait for the mivec version of the 4g63 especially if the new FIA rules goes into place that will take turbos out of WRC. That'd be one hell of a test.

GDI Tech

GDI-GPT

The only downside is that they mostly came with either CVT or an auto transmission. if they could have only strapped on a manual transmission...

Since MIVEC is a valve timing system, and GDI is a fuel timing system... don't you think they could combine the two? Or perhaps they have...

Uh... it doesn't sound like you guys have heard about that guy in Puerto-Rico who first turboed the RA. Wasn't it close to 400HP he got from the engine? Someone help me out here... I don't remember the specifics.

Yeah, the Turbo Tech Lancer down in P.R. 400hp is good, however it still has a lot of catching up to do compared to the 4g63, some of which have broken the 1000hp mark.

to answer your question, anything can be built up to be fast... the other question is... how reliable will it be and also if its going to be a daily driver....

if you are just running it at the track, u can make it super fast.

im pretty sure he did 508 at the wheels, not 400 at the engine. thats prob something like 560 from the engine. he claims it is his daily driver with variable boost control and the right 'mix' of flexible components. also consider this is the FIRST turbo'd RA. once more people take to it, i see these numbers going up.....alot.

the 4g63 has been around alot longer. give it time. for an engine that we only had for under 2 years, some amazing progress has been made. whats the upper limit? i dunno and i dont care =) but it seems like you can get good reliable power and performance for relatively little.

Another piece to speculate on: If/when the IX gets MIVEC, will the 4g63 get MIVEC, or will it be a new 2.0 engine?

The PR guy ran around 508 whp as Blk-majik said. There's a thread about it in the Turbo forum, and pics in the S&S forum. 426 lbs of torque at 30 PSI on 116 race gas.

He's running a GT35 turbo, new pistons and rods, boost controller, stand alone ECU, and a few other things here and there (I can't find the list). When he's daily driving it, it's only boosted to around 20 PSI in the 400 hp range.
