Question Shifter Ring Light Kit

Hey guys...I bought this glow ring shifter light kit but I'm not sure if I can install it. The biggest problem seems like it may be getting the top of the center concole off. Their directions, which are very detailed, say to just pull straight up on the top piece of the console after you remove the ash tray to get a better grip. Can anyone verify that? Is it realatively easy to do?
Here is the part I ordered:

Nope, doesn't work that way. You'll have to remove the entire center console (unless the silver part snaps out, AFAIK it doesn't). Remove the ashtray, underneath it there's a screw you need to remove. Then remove the plastic panels on the driver and passenger sides, way up at the front of the footwell. With these panels out, you can then remove the fasteners holding the front of the console down. Then remove the shift knob. After all that, you should be able to pull the console up and out (I don't think you need to remove the arm rest setup, but I could be wrong). Go look at the B&M shortshifter walkthrough, it has pictures on removing the console.

Yes you can only remove the top portion of the console, i've done it many time to gain access to wires, you just have to remove the ash tray, and your shifter ball by unscrewing it, then pull lightly on the ashtry opening you'll heard a clip release then the rest will come off.

Thanks ModernRacer. The installation instructions that come with the kit indicate that you are right. I just needed some confirmation before I go tugging on the thing and possibly breaking something. Appreciate ya'!
