ATTN: Anyone w/ aftermarket deck

Ok as you and i all know you have to buy the harness for the s&s package in order to change out the head unit. My question for you guys is how difficult of a process to install is it. What all do you have to do. Does anyone have instructions or pics. The reason i ask is because the three places i have been all said that the harness might not even work(wtf?) and if it did they would have to re-wire the entire system, i mean everything, amp, sub, the whole nine yards. So can anyone please help me out here. I got a deck and harness. Does the harness just plug and play.
Thanks
Dustin

I installed an aftermarket deck using the adapter, and it works great. From the background section of my review of my new deck:

The amp connects to the stock head unit using a special cable with many wires in it. I connected it to my new deck using SoundGate's adapter, which splits that cable into standard RCA-style front and rear pairs, and an amp turn-on lead. Note that it doesn't have a seperate sub preout.
Also note that because the speakers as well as the sub are powered by the S&S system's amp you should turn off your new deck's internal amp if it has one, and don't hook it up to any unusual power feeds that it might normally need to power its amp. See the background section of my review for a little more info on that.

As for the rest of the install, just follow the HOWTO in the Audio & Security forum (stickied), and you should be set. Let me know if you have any problems, especially with the Soundgate adapter!

it is very easy! i have the sun and sound package. all you have yo do is look at the back of the package and it tells you whick wire goes to where or just look at the colors but some times the colors are differnt. i did not need to hook up some of the wires like the speaker wire cause it is hooked up to the amp. make sure you have the soundgate adapter you can get it at most audio shops
