RRM and warranty info
I don't know if this has been covered already but I couldn't find posts with answers for this topic. Sorry if I missed the original post regarding this but I got some info from my local mitsu dealer at my last oil change. I have been interested in modding my ralliart but was weary about voiding the warranty. I spoke with the service dept and they told me if I buy (intake, axle back exhaust, and piggyback ecu) from RRM and they install everything at the dealer it would not void my warranty. Only those mods from RRM will NOT void the warranty but from any other aftermarket company it will. Great news if you already have these mods and great news if you are about to buy them! Thanks guys over at RRM.
not to burst any bubbles...but...installin the axelback and intake will never void your warranty...but the ECU piggy back will def. 100% void your powertrain due to tampering with an ECU Unit. You can request from Mitsu on things that can void your warranty directly from them. as for sure i do kno this since i do work for a Mitsu dealer and do have a hooked up car...i just want to make things certain...go ask another dealership service department and ask them if a ECU piggyback will void your warranty
Some dealers (no matter which car company) are more "mod friendly" than others - especially if they can get the business from it themselves as you've found out. The dealer where I bought my previous car was the same way - they installed cam, full exhaust, intake, etc etc and then looked the other way for a couple warranty claims I had. BUT their position was the same - they'd only honor the warranty IF they did the work. Somehow I don't think the parent company (GM) was aware of ANY of that

I had gone to Healey Mitsubishi in Goshen, NY where i bought my car. I first spoke with the service manager and then he brought me right over to the lead tech and they both told me the same thing. All three mods would not void the warranty because that motor and transmission can handle the extra 30hp and 30tq no problem. As long as the dealer or RRM installed them it was not a problem. If you install them yourself then they would not cover warranty issues. It might be dealer specific but my dealer is ok with it and that is ok with me. Why some dealers and not others I don't know.
