snow build up on rear
Anyone notice major snow build up inside the rear tire well? I know almost every car does but it build up on the inside and then get stuck in the front. almost every time i get out of my car im try to poke it out, Yesterday i was driving around and I keeped on hearing this rubbing sound, there was a hugh peice of ice lodged between the tire and the front well. Just hope this doesn't mean new tires every winter due to ice rubbing down the tred. anyone else notice this or have a fix/sudjetion
I have it pretty bad on my RA Sportback, and I have a lower back end than the sedans, there is nothing you cqn really do but bang it out, I get more build up along the rear bumper panel it's a pain when you bake out of the garage over a mountian of crap.
ok.. TRY NOT TO LAUGH WHEN YOU READ THIS:
get a can of Pam (yes, the non-stick cooking oil) and spray the entire wheel well when it's clear of snow.. snow will now just fall off and it's totally safe for your paint job

hahah, groupe buy on pam, I'm gona try that once i get most of the snow off. And I dont have mud flaps. yeah it freaked the sh*t out of me when i heard the rubbing.
I've heard that vaseline is also good. ...
I mean for keeping crap from getting stuck inside wheel wells. It supposed to be common on 4x4 offroad vehicles to keep the mud from sticking, migth work well for snow to.
I waxed under there. Makes it easier to keep clean

The bad buildup has happened once this year for me. It snowed A LOT and my front tires were spinning A LOT in parking lots etc. It got really packed in the front and was rubbing on the wheels/brake calipers. I got the scraper and kinda poked it out (plastic scraper, i'm not THAT stupid). I was careful for the ABS/brake lines too. Hasn't happened since though.
Actually, if you look at the rear wheel well of the ralliart, you notice the bottom ground effect body piece sticks into the well and it has like a little hollow part that fills up with all kinds of ****. I havent driven in snow so i dont know if that's what it is or not, but I do know, Ive had to clean it out a few times of leaves and mud and crap.
The EVO is really bad for this as well. The rear fascia seems to be a big bucket for growing the biggest possible iceberg throughout the winter. I swear the one I had going last year was so big/heavy by the time I chipped it out that I could feel it affecting the car's handling. I've lived in MI all my life. This car is by far the worst offender that I've ever experienced.
I might try that pam trick though (on the inside of the rear fascia).

I use PAM on my snow shovel - works great.
