ok.. I wasnt saying there is a lot of Complaints about it.. I was just noting that I see a lot of "Problems" but I havent gotten any.. thats all I was noting.I didnt mean for it to come across as *****ing or whateva.Just noting that you would THINK Mitsu would do something with all the little issues but they have bigger fish to fry right now.One a Recall wouldnt be good on something that little because they are trying to get thier clientel/consumer numbers up so they can get back on thier feet financially.I love my RA and am buying a Evo soon as well.I have allways been and will always be a mitsu Girl.Dont get me wrong. I was just saying that basically they cant worry about something that little right now because 1 they arent doing to well financially and 2.Its not a life threatening safety issue if it is just rocks here and there or a loose screw in the dash board.Something like Bushings would be.. or maybe doors popping open in a crash .. those are things to worry about.I am glad the little things can be noted as well on here so others who MAY have the same issue can get it taken care of or know what to do.If you noticed as well I just didnt understand how many problems the RA can have.. But that was just me.I also posted on my knowledge of bushings.I was trying to help thats all.. Dont let this get ugly.. I wasnt trying to start a flame war or anything.. so LAY THE FUGG OFF.. ok I am off my soapbox now.. take it from me before I can get back on it.. lmao,,
BACK TO TOPIC..

Take your tire off in the driveway and look for a rock in the springs or anywhere in the suspension.. if its not and it is a bushing either have mitsu replace it or do it yourself. Its an easy replacement.. a few bolts and the bushing and you are done.. few hours MAX. Thats my .02

Not any problems here, that were the car's fault anyway. One windshield and one accident later though. As for the brake howl, our RSX does that too. It's no big deal. If you want something as quiet and refined as a German car, buy a BMW.
Although I admit the RA is a very quiet car, even on the highway despite the tires and suspension it has. Compared to the RSX, it is REALLY quiet on the highway. The RSX howls and you can hear the tires. The engine is quiet too. Running at 3000 at highway speed and you don't hear it.

I know its rocks causing the clunking in my RA. I had this problem last winter so I took the tires off and cleaned out the suspension (don’t bother wasting your time with this, it was back to clunking a couple days later = put up with it). You will notice it happens when the city puts a lot of gravel on icy roads in the winter. It’s the worst in the spring when (here in Alberta Canada anyway) there’s 3 inches of gravel left when all the snow melts.

yikes... that would probably harm any suspension!!

Vancouver got hit pretty fast with snow, but we only resorted to salt. No gravel as far as I know.

They do put gravel out, just I think our gravel is a lot less than what they would put out in Alberta. I love how it snows one week out the year here

I’ll put my car in the garage today and see if there are any signs of damage. I’ll also see if I’m able to get a picture of a rock stuck in the suspension.

There doesn't seem to be any damage after a year and a half, I'll have a better look in the summer when I can clean it so i can see better. Here are a couple of pictures of my suspension, and a couple of the reason my suspension clunks all the time in the spring/winter….

I too am experiencing the same problem. It started about a month ago usually when I'm backing out of my drive way, and I'm sure it has something to do with the incline, cause it won't do it on a flat surface. I'm convinced it is a bushing.

I don't see how a rock or debris could cause a clunking sound, but thanks for the pictures, you never know. I should probably check.

It only happens to me when I hit a dip or pothole, and usually at low speeds. The reason I know it’s the problem in my car is because it went away after I cleaned out the suspension last year. It might be worth the time to check and see if there are rocks in yours too. ----Does it happen every time?

i would also check your CV boots to make sure those are not damaged. if those boots tear, dirt gets in & breaks down the grease.

No, my exhaust caused a rattle not a clunk, but I took care of that with the kartboy hangers 3 months ago.

i never got the clunking with my ES nor did my buddy with his RA but i got squeeling brakes and he got that too in reverse

i changed my brake pads and had the discs resurfaced and now it still squeels. theres no way i beat my car that much.. so it must be something stupid. but still, when the car was brand new the brakes never made a sound. i like it that way..
