modernracer.com puts the 2003-2004 eclips gts at 15.2 sec. @ 92 MPH in the 1/4 mile. Thats about the same as the Ralliart.

Good question, id have to choose the GTS over the RA though. As stated in a previous post from a long time ago, i test drove the GTS and it was GREAT. Powerful, handled great, and had everything i wanted (except the 4 doors). Its gonna take a lot of mods to beat a stock GTS if you ask me. They have a crapload of torque and a 40 horsepower advantage over us, so its gonna be hard to take one. The MAIN reason i didnt buy the gts was the price, like previously stated, for a couple grand more you could get a brand new evo.

The suspension on the 3g is absolutely horrid. Don't get me wrong, but the thing is soggy compared to a lot of the competition. The Tiburon GTV6 and the RSX-S are two door vehicles that can be had at the same price or cheaper. They can handle better and are as fast or faster. The V6 in the Tiburon is actually a Mitsubishi design. It's even stamped on the block. The cast aluminum block on the Tib makes the weight on the front axle more bearable. Some people have mixed feelings about the Tib and the RSX, but I am really not a fan of the 3G on style. Bland, bland, bland, and more bland. Even the 2F2F car looked like crap.

Like stated before, it's a cruiser. I bought the Ralliart because it's based on a chasis that actually races. It also has room for four drunk friends.

So I stand corrected - I'll accept that. But.....You are comparing a loaded Eclipse model with the stripped down EVO RS (when I think EVO, I don't think about the base model).....apples to oranges IMO. But I think we can agree to disagree .

Kudos to you. You were on a closed track, right? Because street racing is frowned upon in these forums, you know.
You are correct on the 1/4 mile #'s....the GT-S and the RA are comparable (I think this may go back to the Eclipse weight issue).

I must say that I was VERY hesitant in trading my 3G, but I am very pleased with the RA (and so is my daughter). Given a choice now...I need the 4 doors and the performance makes me happy....we probably drive the biggest sleeper on the road now.

No, that would be a Dodge stationwagon with a 5.7 liter pushrod under the hood.

I used to have an Eclipse GTP, hated the interior. I guess a good drive with RA will be as fast as an Eclipse(stock to stock), u just need faster upshifts.

Well the Eclipse reaches higher km/h in 2nd,3rd gears, but in 4th gear RA catches up. And the SOHC 4g72 revs slower than 4g69. The worst thing on 3g Eclipse is the shifter, the throw is soooo long, a short shifter would help a lot on a 3g eclipse. Dont get me wrong, 3g eclipse is nice car and catches girls eyes. Actually the exterior is so stylish, i'd say its the most appealing eclipse in 4 generations. However it's just missing a "youthful spirit".

GTP stands for "GT premium", its a canadian version. Its basically a us GT with leather interior, infinity audio system and a rear wiper(why dont they put one on RA).

I used to have an Eclipse GT 2001.

They are ptetty fast, they run a 15.6 stock.
The most common RA runs a 15.7, truly depends on driver.

Now you have to think about it logistally...

The Ra weighs around 2800, and the 3G weighs around 3300...

So if you ad say 30 wHP from mods, to both cars.

The lack of weight is going to truly going to show a better performance gain.

a RA with I/DP/E vs. a GT with I/H/E the RA will come out above.

I run a 15.2 with Custom 3 In. Cold Air Intake, RRM Downpipe, & Custom 2 1/2" Catback.

I've been part of Desert Diamonds in AZ. The festest eclipses run here with I/H/E is about 15.5/15.4

When you mod a car with less weight and get the same HP, and you would from modding a car with more weight, the grains will be a lot more noticable with the lighter vehicle.
Especually because the Mivec takes advantage of these upgrades very nicely...
Where as the Eclipse has no Mivec...

Thats why 5HP drops a civic HB like almost a whole second lol....
