Alright so I have never installed a HU in my life,yet im electricly inclined,I have a 04 rali and have a clarion dxz945mp along with the metra harness to install.Will i be able to do this?easy?i know how to get the old hu old..but then.....??also the instructions say to unhook battery while doing install...should i do this? thanks in advance.

 

Always when doing something electrical to your car unhook the negative cable.
If you don't you can wreck fuses and or the HU amps ect.....

 

If you're electrically inclined, you should have no problem with this. The electrical side of stereo installs is super easy.

 

metra's harness is easy.. just match the colors on to the other wires and then ther you go.... except dont forget this... but.. the "Memory wire" is connected with the Red "always on battery" wire.. i might be wrong due to different HU but.. you'll get the point. i did it in less than half an hour.

 

the dash around the stereo comes out, but you have to undo 2 hvac cables under the driver side of the dash first. then pry out the dash piece. with the harness, match up color to color....yellow is constant, red ignition.....so on. the only wires you dont have to hook up are your illumination wires (oranges). they dim the radio display down when you have your parking lights on.

 

WHAT!? NO NO NO! that's too much work! all you have to do is pull off the climate control knobs. they just slip right off. there are two hidden screws behind them...these attach the dash piece to your hvac controls. once they are off, pry off the dash piece. that's it.
