Legality and RRM Turbo??

Congrats on the turbo install, Manny!! RRM did a good job, I am always impressed with their products. Anyway, I have the 4gs to put down on the RRM turbo kit (I dont want to sound like a puss) I am worried about legality issues. I dont want to put all this money into the turbo kit and it ends up I cant even drive the car!! I know that you can use the kit with a high flow cat, but still. I use to have an SRT4, it was completely stock (except for an intake and Mopar BOV). I get pulled over, the cop asks me to pop the hood. Gives me a ticket for the intake and I have to take the car to a state ref. I dont want this to happen again!! I really want this kit, I would just like to get some imput from you guys and maybe even rock.

The only way I would not have gotten that ticket would be if the intake was "CARB legal." So basicly if you want to "abid" by the law and modify your car in Cal. the parts have to be "CARB legal." Some cops out here are such ********* they will still give you a ticket even if you present them with a CARB #. Now for a shop to sell something that is not CARB legal, they can sell it in Cal. On the box of the item that you purchase or even the install instructions there is a disclaimer stating that their product is for "off-road use only and should never be used on public highways." I tell you what Cal. sucks!!!

well sorry bro, there is no way this kit will be carb legal, unless rock decides to go thru with the testing which is like 20 different tests that you have to pass, and even if u fail one of em, you have to pay 4000 bucks agen to retake the test... sorry but there is no way around it... just hope u get pulled over by a cop who doesn't know ne better

Know your rights.

4th Ammendment

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

No warrant or probable cause, NO search. Tell the cops to stick it up their ***. Are they going to call the CAI sniffing dog?

I am now happy I live in Minnesota, sure the winter sucks but a few years ago we actually got rid of emissions testing, now you can mod the hell out of your car and the cops really won't do anything, besides most of the cops I know are hot rodders so unless you are causing a public disturbance they won't bug you about your car.

The problem with that MitsuRalliart is they do have probable cause!! Modified exhaust, front mounted intercooler, etc... Yeah, you can refuse to pop your hood, they will just tow your car!! Cal. is by far the **** state. I guess I am just going to have to pass on the RRM turbo If I get the RRM turbo and I get pulled over, they make me pop my hood, I know for sure I will get sent to a State Ref. When I took the SRT to the state ref, they did a complete smog check!! They even did a visual inspection and put it on rollers.

Not quite my firend. If you deny the search then they have probable cause because your are hiding something. A better method would be to take it to court and then move for dismissal because of a vilation of the 4th.
