it should fit, with adjustments though. i mean its a 2.0L and RA is 2.4L so the space isn't really a big deal, its just the tranny and drivetrain components i think.

You have to look at the Evo 4 and up motors, not DSMs or Evo 3 and under.

lol drivetrain ( that includes the tranny) isn't as big as a problem as could you say... wiring? It would be a nightmare to rewire the car. Not impossible, more of the annoyance of a mother in law. I think thats the hardest part.

what does the awd have to do with the 4g63 , cause they are not all awd only the ones that come out of the evo? i mean you don't have to get the engine out of an evo , you could just get a 4g63 and then mod it yourself , it is tempting to do it though cause there is so many aftermarket things for the 4g63 engine probably everything in the book. The wiring would be crazy like diamond said, unless you have someone that is really good at and knows there **** but still crazy. just my thought

Yea the Eclipse Gsx (95-99 2nd Gen) came with a 4G63-T and AWD... to be honest if you wanna swap the Drivetrain and Engine/ecu.... just do it from a 95-99 Eclipse GS-T.... turbo'd and already just FWD... although wiring will still be a *****.

I don't see why you couldn't just use the Evo engine. You don't need the Evo tranny/transfer case. Most Mitsu trannies share the same casing, just different gearing inside. You could probably get a Ralliart tranny to mate up with a 4G63 engine just fine, maybe just need a new bellhousing.

you took the words out of my mouth....

do that and do a reflash of the ecu... taking the boost program out.... and the perfect n/a engine....
[slap my head] but why do that when you can have the perfect turbo engine on a fwd car?[continous slapping]

and yes you need by default a bellhousing

for the cost of what you are taking about...you could...

A. get an evo in the first place.
B. mod the crap out of your 2.4L and get the same performance.

it's nice to see people thinking outside the box though. i'm doing some research and comparison on the evo/RA engine to see what we can swap. coming down to not much.
