Oil filter

Anyone had a bosch or beck number for a filter that fits our cars. Bosch's listings are not right and I don't see anything in beck. My supplies don't even list our car at all.

I don't want to have to drive out to the dealer for filters.

Can't tell you about Beck Arnley, Bosch should be: 3300, Purolator Pure One: PL1461, K&N: HP1008, Mobil 1: M1-108 or M1-110 ( M1-110 is larger version, not sure if it physically fits, someone please let me know if it does) , Hastings: LF565, Fram: (please no!) PH7317, Super Tech: (Walmart brand, if you could actually find it, I understand they are a very good filter) ST7317 (this NOT a Fram).

Yes, it does. That's the one I'm using on my RA. The M1-105 would probably fit, as well. The threads are the same, and the gasket diameter.

The nice thing about the M1-110 is that you just dump in 5 quarts, instead of 4.6 or 4.7 or whatever it was.

On a related note, I took my RA in to a quick oil change place to get the oil changed right before leaving on a 2000 mile road trip. I brought in an M1-110 filter, since they didn't carry them. I pulled my car into the bay, and watched as the monkey changed my oil.

He tried taking my drain valve off, rather than just opening it. Then he argued with me over whether or not that filter would work on my car. He topped it off by telling me that 5 quarts of oil was too much, and that I would damage my engine by putting that much in.

Well, he put that filter on and put in 5 quarts, checked for leaks, and then pulled the stick to show me that it was over-full.

Right on the money.

You'd think I've never changed oil before...

LOL That's music to my soul! I love it when someone else sticks it to the greasemonkeys! They don't realize that some people are able to do it themselves but just didn't have the time or didn't want the hassle right then. It's tempting to buy and keep a digital camera in the car just to catch the reaction! I love that look but I haven't seen it in awhile, been too poor to afford the luxuries in life!

I bought a bosch 3300 from my shop. It was much much smaller them the stock filterso I jsut ended up not taking the filter out and put new oil back in untill I can figure out whats going on. I was trying to feel up where the gaket was and it jsut felt much bigger so I was worried.

Anyone used the bosch 3300 yet? Im gonig to have to change that again real soon sense I didn't change the filter.

however I did through some lucas oil additive in it. Anyone try it yet? I noticed a difference on how smooth the engine runs.

I take mine to the dealership.. they use a Evo filter on mine.ANd when I change my own oil I buy my filter from the dealership.IT has a check valve in it to keep it from getting lifter tick bad as most mitsus are known for.But the Evo Filter works and is supposed to be used on our cars unless you have the drop in filter.. I have no clue about that one I just heard that there is a drop in oil filter for the RA and my dealership confirmed that there were a few made with it.

My stock filter (and the M1-108 replacement) are TINY. 2" in diameter and 3" tall, or thereabouts. That's why I wanted a bigger filter.

Any good filter will have that valve. You'd have to get the cheapest filter you could find to not have an anti-drainback valve in it. Some are better then others (different materials), but just about every filter will have one.

I loath mechanics, 9 out of 10 are dead beat crackhead highschool drop out loosers that don't know crap. Then there are the ones that are actually knowledgeble and do it because they love cars. Needles in a hay stack.

I use the same filter for my EVO and her Ralliart and it works just fine. I would stick with the OE filter and crush ring until your warranty goes, that way you won't be given any crap on an engine claim. A couple of bucks saved on an OE filter vs any other brand isn't worth that price to me.
