He's right. In japan, the G35 is called the skyline GT (not GTR), over here it goes under the Infiniti G35 name, but it is a skyline. The GTR will debut in the US in 2007

how can you say 'USDM * is JDM *'?

and i dunno, but when i think of a 'jdm skyline' im thinking of the r34 gt-r v-spec /w a smaller engine twin turbo rb26 inline6's that put out like 330hp to the rear. or even the AWD nismo400r /w the smaller rbxgt2 inline6 twinturbo putting out like 400hp stock.

saying the USDM inf g35 is the 'jdm skyline' is like saying the lancer ES is the JDM lancer, which most would assume is the evo. its more accurate to say tha the g35 is the usdm version of the lowest class skyline offered in japan.

Jens Bachfeld said it best:

Looking at the new V35 Sedans, one quickly notices they have lost all similarity with Skylines of the past, whereas the GT-R Concept keeps the round taillights, which had been the most easily identifiable trait of previous Skylines, and other mechanical features we had known from the Skyline GT-R so far. Keeping this in mind, simply badging the car Nissan GT-R seems quite paradox - Nissan think over it again! The GT-R has always been a Skyline…and should always be!

Praise Jesus you are my hero.

Please tell me they'll give us the RB's and not that bull**** VQ's.... althought the VQ is strong and really hasn't been out too too long (if my memory is correct they're only in the G35 and 350Z) I'm just a good ol' fan of the RB.

I can't read your minds, so if I can't make comparisons to whatever model Skyline you have in mind, forgive me.

However, what I said is still true.

Sorry to hijack your thread.

its all good. the cool thing about it is that i still got to spank a g35 infiniti coupe, the 3.5l 280 hp one just in case everyone thinks its a diff car or something.

The G35 is weak compared to the old skylines. I do want to point out that even if they call it that in Japan, it certainly is not GT R status.

I think The RB is a great engine... if they wanna go bigger... why not make it a RB30DETT... None of this VQ/QR bullsh*t.

Keep in mind. Any refferences being made here to the G35 being a skyline in Japan is true. Now, keep in mind, its not the well sought after GT-R.

And to answer the questions about the powerplant. It will be a VQ35DETT w/ Nissans version of VVT. This was already confirmed. As well as Lotus's involvement in the suspension tuning I believe. As far as the body shape is concerned....that is still up in the air a little. The last design I saw was the front of a G35 w/ the rear of a 98 GT-R.

Sorry for the OT.

G35 is a sweet ride, no doubt. Where I live, it's mostly rich trophy wives driving them. They don't know what they're driving. Not that I'd want to race one with my current setup anyway.

I dont think the new skyline gtr(07) will have the VQ, i dunno if it's the RB either, but i heard it will be turbo AWD. Now back to the ralliart wooping the G35...
