Check your valve cover gaskets!!!

I have to take my car in for work under warranty. I don't know if anyone else is has noticed this, but I looked at my valve cover gasket and noticed that the gasket looked mushy ( to say the least) but not so bad that I would raise a huge flag or anything, but I wanted to have it checked out anyways. I noticed a few weeks ago that I had a collection of dust collecting under the valve cover near the gasket on the head and I thought nothing of it, kinda just wiped off the dirt and decided to see if it came back. It did, so I called mitsu and they said bring it in and have a tech look at it. Upon doing this, they noticed that a small amount of oil and dirt in the corner which I hadn't noticed, and they said that they are going to replace it. Also, going to do the recall work that I was unaware of, fan control unit, but that is already posted about. And to make things even better ( really ) for me, they are not going to make me take anything back to stock, I am stoked. That has got to be the best service dept. I have ever had to deal with to date. I would check yours out though, I don't know if it is a common problem, just something to check out, thought i would post about it. Mine is doing it on the left side of the valve cover.

I thought that was only an OZ Rally problem... My brother had that recall... it was something to do with the fan not coming on when the engine was about to overheat or something...

I never heard of it either, but I took it in to have them check out the valve cover gasket and they said "Did you get the recall work done?" I said that I didn't believe so, and they said " Well, it's a 2003 part number so we'll replace it." Word for word, it went like that. I'm not going to argue either, because how hard can it be to replace? Then even if they never made a recall on the RA's, it could have been related to the year the parts were made, you never really know.

I also don't know of a recall (maybe a TSB). When the body shop replaced my fan shroud,
which comes with fan motors and fan controller box attached my fans did not work.
They pulled the old controller off the damaged shroud and all works perfectly now.
Hummm ???
