Is the Engine of the Ralliart the same as the new v4 Eclipse 06?
From what I've seen on the specs, it looks the same.

Anyone confirm?

The eclipse is heavier.

-v6 weights 3570 lbs and quarter mile is 14.4 sec.
-mivec 4cyl weighs 3274 lbs and quarter mile ?? (slower than ralliart though)
-RALLIART 2843 lbs and quarter mile is 15.5

 

Just to let you know, there is no such thing as a v4. The engines are the same code at least.

 

yes they are the same engine but the 06 eclipse has a powder coated black valve cover we have that metallic looking thing

 

At the dealership I felt the valve cover and its textured.. I don't know about powder coated.. it feels like the same stuff they put on the old 420a engines in the eclipse/talon, but instead it has kind of a wrinkly football texture to it. I like the style of it though.

 

Engine is the same 4g69 as the ralliart.. the car is heavier, like in my previous post. But the engine has the same weird thing as my old talon had.. its next to the battery and has the heat fins on it.. not sure what it does. It has electrical wires hooked up to it. I have pix in the future eclipse forum in other cars. (I took the pix at my dealership)

 

so that mean is they make new cams for eclipses we can put them in ralliarts?

 

I dont see why not. But dont expect them to make cams right away for our cars. After the 2nd generation eclipse was released back in 95, it wasnt until 98 that they made cams for them. And that eclipse sold 5 times better than our cars are selling.

 

I think the problem with those sales is that people liked the 2-door concept. Not many people look for a 4-door sports car. I ask some people about a ralliart and they don't even know what it is?!?! But for mitsu, when this new eclipse starts selling, its gonna go big. Thats prolly good for you ralliart guys since they will most likely make more engine mods for the eclipse, which in turn will also fit the ralliart. (4g69 motor in the 2006 GS eclipse)

I ask the question, simply to figure out if I could expect more tuning parts for my ralliart engine.

Now that I know, I'll be waiting for eclipse parts... eclipse are selling much more than ralliart. So is the aftermarket for it.

 

I have seen the new Eclipse and it is beautiful. I really like it more then 350Z and anyother two door car out there. I really like the way this car looks guys. If I would ever was to get a 2 door car I would only get the Eclipse. Yes I said it, and I love the way the car looks. I hope they sell like crazy now...

 

Using the same engine in the Eclipse GS and the Ralliart makes perfect sense to me. Several manufacturers do this so they have less replacement parts to make available for the different vehicle models they have.
This also indicates to me that the aftermarket industry will be more willing to support the 4G69 platform since it is being used in multiple vehicles (expecially now with the popular Eclipse).....which benefits both GS and Ralliart owners.
Nice job Mitsu! When I first heard this news, a tear almost came to my eye cause I was so happy!

 

Dont worry about mods coming out for our cars. in 06 the base model lancers will all have our engines so manufacters will make mods for out engines in no time.
