I'd like to make the point that while the 2004's appear identical to the 05's, the OBD system has some major differences which excludes the 04's from this project.

because you've bascially not given them any information, asked to "borrow" their car to hook something up to their ECU and haven't been very forthcoming with the reasons why. Bascially no one wants to get scammed or jacked.

If I were trying the same thing, here's how I'd do it:
Hi, my name is John
I'm looking for 14 2005my Ralliarts to run a check on your ECU per a contract my company (insert company name) has with Mitsubishi Motors of North America (MMNA). MMNA has hired us to track (insert bit of information here) from the 2005my Ralliart. The 2004my Ralliarts don't collect this bit of data, so unfortunately we can't use your vehicles for this study. we've performed similar studies on vehicles from (insert car forum webaddress here) without complaint. We're offering $50 cash for letting us hook (insert type of code reader, etc) to your vehicle. It should take about 10 minutes and nothign on your ECU is changed or reset. We're located in Ontario, Cali and are willing to drive up to (25? 30? 50? ) miles to meet you at your place of business or home to collect the data. please contact me here (insert contact info) between the hours of XX and XX. Thanks.

Good luck.

I work for a company that provides engineering and certification services for the OEM's. Mitsubishi happens to be one of our customers. Mitsubishi, just like all other manufacturers, is required to collect data from a certain number of in-use vehicles in order to comply with government regulations. The reason why I only have two posts is that we are trying a new method to procure these vehicles. I hope that this will be my third and final post until next year when we have to do this data collection all over again. So believe me, this is an excellent opportunity to make some extremely quick cash, so please at the very least, contact me for details.
I doubt you would go on an internet forum to find people.

Any good company wouldn't work like that.

It's even better when you wake up and tell the cops that V06 stole your car.

somebody could always request more information and then post it here, just for the hell of it.

what i would want to know is what kind of coverage or guarantee is offered if the car doesn't run the same after this "data" is "collected"? does your company offer an insurance policy for the cars you brain scan?

come on.. common sense tells you that IF mitsubishi really want this "data", they can just call a few dealers around the U.S. / Canada, and when the cars get in for their regular mainteance, just collect this "data" from the car.

they don't need to pay somebody outside to search the internet for "volunteers"
