It does look very weird... those blocks would be compressed pretty hard under normal road use. I don't see them being a problem... but it would however affect the way the car handles a bit.

In the long run, I think it's almost certain that such a part would tear itself to pieces. So even if you like the car better with these rubber dampers on, don't get used to it too much...

yeah thats pretty much what im thinking, just by the looks of it, with 4500 miles they are pretty effed up. ive always wondered what these things were, ever since i got the car, i wonder how different it would feel handling wise if i do in fact take these off, which i probably will. ill give a call to my dealer and see what they have to say about it, ill keep you guys posted

I say call first, take parts off afterwards... but it's just one guy's opinion though.

The main reason I'm saying that is mostly due to the fact that I'm wondering what else they missed when prepping the car for sale if they didn't get these off!

I wonder if that's their "solution" to the problems some RAs had with weak stock springs..?

I don't think so... but I might be wrong. But I can't see how a part that would wear out that fast would solve the problem. Plus they don't hesitate a second when you take the car in for a coil spring replacement. Now, if only the replacement coils were 1.5" lower...

But I hope quikkstylez keeps us posted on this. His dealer might probably provide the answer all this...

well, went to the dealer and they said that their systems were down, and no maintenance could be done. i explained the problem to him. one more reason why i hate mitsu mechanics, hes like "oh, i dont know what youre talking about, were not supposed to take off anything when they arrive to the dealer" i guess another mechanic overheard my conversation and hes like "we are supposed to take off some of the spring stiffeners on the front springs before we sell the cars" and he said that i was right, they put them on so it would minimize the cars jumping on the boat. well, they took em off right in the parking lot for free and told me they were sorry.

best of all, no more knock! and my ride doesnt make my *** hurt anymore!

i can definitely notice a difference in ride quality, its def alot less bumpy and my tires dont squeal 20+ times a day during semi-fast cornering.

could be dude, jack up ur car and take a look at ur springs, that little rubber circular part down toward the bottom of the spring is normal, but the rectangular blocks lodged onto your springs ARE NOT, go take a pic and send it to me if you are curious. all it takes is a little muscle to pull em off the springs and youre all set

Nice to know I can take them out. The dealer didnt take mine out from between the springs...Ever since I've had the car every time I make a left turn there's a really bad squeak from the passenger side wheel. I found out it was the spring rubber making the noise. Guess I'll be taking them out this weekend!
