idle problem
is anyone having problems with their idle???? Mine keeps dropping down to 650rpm and when that happens the oil light comes on. Anyone have any ideas what it could be????? thanks
when it first came on i went to the store an put a qt in. it really shouldn't have been that low since i had just hit my 3000mi since last change. And there is plenty of oil in there i keep checking everyday. Once i hit the gas the light goes off, and it only goes on when the rpms dip down near 600rpm.
That light is coming on because you are almost stalling. It has nothing to do with your oil. You need to check your air filter and vaccum hoses. If everything looks ok you may need to adjust your idle. If there is no check engine light, I would say just adjust the idle.
Yeah, the oil light has nothing to do with oil.
When your idle speed dips low enough, your oil pressure can drop far enough to trip the light. Make sure it's full of oil, and make sure the oil you're using is the correct viscosity.
How many miles are on your car?
Does it do this all the time, or only in certain conditions (turning, braking, stopped, A/C on, etc.)?

i have 39000+ and i think it normally starts when i am on a hill. i just had the rrm intake mani put in about 3-4weeks ago. could they have not tightend everything, or would it have started right after they had put it in???

rallilanc you should check you dipstick! when i installed my intake-manifold i had to take out the dipstick, if yours is loose you maybe loosing oil . also i have a idle problem too. think i'm getting too much air because of the RRM manifold , cold air intake, and piggyback. thinking of retunning my piggyback .
Well, after you've checked the oil, look for loose bolts and vacuum hoses. Also make sure your CAI is securely attached, and the air sensor is tight in it.
I'd be curious to see what a vacuum gauge would read on your car at idle. A leak in your intake can do strange things to idle speed.

riemundo i've pushed the dipstick all the way so they prob isn't it, but i too a cai and maybe we are getting too much air, i don't have the piggy, but that could still be a problem. i dont think im loosing oil b/c i have been checking everyday since i noticed it and it doesn't seem to be going down. i'll check my intake tomorrow to make sure every thing is okay with that.
riemundo just wondering what ur car idles at??

it goes up and down like if i have a leak. 600 to 800 and then stays still . i dont think i have a leak because on saturday i put a new gasket ,and the bolts should be tight because i used an airgun. it could be a vaccum ,but i'm pretty sure that there on tight too. maybe i put one of the hoses in the wrong places.
if you looked at everything (hoses etc.) and all appears well.. it sounds like an ecu problem to me..try resetting it.
Remove the red wire off the terminal on your battery and leave it off for like 15mins (with car off of course)
Hook it back up and start your car. Let it idle for a bit.. 5 mins or so then go for a ride.. taking it easy for the first 10mins
give that a try

I can almost guarantee you have either a vacuum problem or a leak in your intake. If its idling rough then we know that its past the MAF sensor because its measuring air thats not making it into the engine and causing your idle to be unstable. It sounds like that intake mani isn't sealed good or one of the hoses is plugged in wrong somewhere.
But like I said earlier its not your oil, youre just getting that because your almost stalling and causing all the pressure to drop.
