I have the same problem as you although it very rarely occurs. It only happens if I try and steer really hard after braking (which would make the rpm thing make sense). Two places it does this is when doing auto-x during tight repeated turns it'll do this at every time, but it only seems to be for a quick second but it does force me to muscle the whole section. The other place is when coming out of the parking lot at work, it dips pretty hard to the pavement so I'll slow down to exit the parking lot, the front end will drop and I'll start turning hard and it'll stick, but only once in a while if I'm coming out pretty hard.

You guys are not alone. I've noticed this also. The only time I've noticed is when I sit in traffic and see and open lane and turn my steering just about all the way to the right/left then quickly jump into the lane and then when I try to correct and straighten out the car the steering is stiff as ***k for a split second. What I'm also thinking because this stiffness happens for a split second is maybe it's because of the force applied on the front wheels and their angle when you're pushing the car forward quick. And maybe that's why you get this delay for only a split second untill the wheel is corrected a bit.

My issue happens with no accelaration/deccelaration. Constant speed of around 5 to 10 mph, turning one direction then quickly the other. It seems like if we all exchanged vehicles we would be able to duplicate each others problems though. This is not a good sign since that is one of the main reasons I bought an RA (autox and track). All of you should visit the dealership b/c they are at least trying to fix my issue. I will not stop until it is normal either. I drove a 92 Mazda Protege before I bought this car and I think I would do better in it at an autox right now. I did actually use it for that one time I placed seventh out of 26 drivers in the novice class with my HStock index. Everything on the car was original equipment too.
