Gas Question

hey guys I was really tired coming home from work@ 5 a.m. today that I didn't even feel like putting the foot on the gas pedal so I used the cruise control so I was thinking do we use the same amount of gas when we use the cruise control as opposed to pressing on the gas

uh, duh. the cruise control just keeps the throttle body open so you don't have to hold the gass pedal down manually.

Well, I drive to L.A. once a week (320 miles round trip). When I use cruise control, I can usually get 2-3 MPG better then without it. I think the reason has to do with the consistancy of your rpm's. If you engage it out of MIVEC, then it should never hit it. However your foot isn't so precise, so I think it's the only reason why cruise would actually give you better mpg's.

Yep! It's proven fact that the cruise control will get your mileage up a bit. As reTro said, the lack of sudden acceleration keeps the consumption to it's minimum. If you can also keep to around 65 Mph, you're mileage should be optimal... meaning very close to the advertized mileage for the car.

It will only get you better gas milage because you arnt pressing the accelerator all the time. Set CC around 3100 and your golden.
