UK 4G69 Engine Swap - Advice Needed!
UK 4G69 Engine Swap - Advice Needed!
We are about to attempt to swap the engine of my UK Lancer Ralliart (1.6 SOHC 4G18) with the US Engine, the 4G69 2.4 MIVEC.
First, a few facts about my car.
It is a 2005 model, and is a mixture of US Lancer Ralliart and US Lancer ES parts. For instance it has large four wheel disk brakes and anti-sway bars, strut bar, momo wheel and lip, skirts etc as stock... but it comes with a 1.6L engine, as opposed to a 1.3 in our ES equivalent, because in the UK we dont seem to like high fuel consumption!
My car is manual transmission
It is Right Hand Drive
My car has a four bolt pattern on the wheels.
I have in my posession an ECU from a US Lancer Ralliart for the 2.4 MT 2004.
I can obtain the 4G69 2.4 engine block and mounts.
I really want to do this conversion and am prepared to pay for it
I promise to keep you updated how it goes.
Now, I need some general advice on how to approach the engine swap, I believe the engine in my car is just a smaller capacity version of the engine in the US 2004 Lancer ES.
I need to know if there are any major differences between the 2005 Lancer ES and the 2005 Lancer Ralliart that would prevent an engine swap.
My only other choice to obtain a RHD 2.4 is to order one from Australia for only £8000! (20,000 AUD) My car cost me £13,000!
I'm most concered about the drive axles, and wiring.

I'm not the super tech guy. If its a newer body style, I can't imagine that you'd have problems with swapping. I just came back from Thailand and Japan and I know that if you're on right hand drive, the transmission and shifter are still the same so I'm guessing with the right motor mounts, it should bolt right up. Good luck with your Project BTW. Next you gotta get the RRM turbo. Then you'd really be burning it up in the UK.
Yeah, you have no idea how slow our cars are compared to the rest of the world! We are due to get the 2.4 Eclipse but not the V6 engine next year!
Anyway, if anyone can think of anything that might prevent this swap between two 2005 cars, then please let me know so I can talk to the garage about it! Thanks

I believe the engine will be close to £1000, the mounts I can get for around £300 and the ECU I already have. Anything else will increase the cost, then their is labour. If I get all the right parts, and predict any difficulties before work is started, then it can be done at a reasonable price.
I'm not sure how I can find that out, I cant see there being any major differences between the 2.4 2005's and the other 2005's because it would be inefficient to build them up with different fuel systems. Are the US Lancer 2004/2005 engines returnless? And what is the 4G69?
