Trading Up

I need some advice. I am thinking of trading in my RA for an Evo.

What should I expect in the way of trade in on the RA, and the prices of an Evo.

I would like to trade the RA for a used Evo8. What are the chances of a bank swinging that?

Would it be better to just trade in on a new 2006 evo? (although I like the Evo8 bettter)

Any advice would be nice. Just trying to get an idea of what to expect before i walk into a dearler ship.

Thanks

You'd be better off selling your RA. As a trade it, you probably won't get much more than $10k for it. You could probably swing $12k in a private sale. I would definitely go for the Evo IX if you can afford it, more power, and I think they're going to be able to get a lot more out of the MIVEC 4G63 than they can with the Evo VIII engine.

Expect you Insurance to double, you gas will go up cuz of premium. i jsut test drove the evo 9 and its better than the 8. looks arent everything.

ps. my dealership offered me 12K on trade in.
i have an 04 ra with 10k miles

i live in dallas. so im pretty close to you. so prices should be similar. the new evo 9 is 31,995. my stealership had (3) evo 9's, and one MR 9.

Yea im planning to do the same. Sell the Ralliart on ur own ( its hard but ull make much more money)

After gettin the evo, maintaining a turbo AWD car will cost u more money. Insurance will be much more.

The Evo is a very expensive to take care of kinda car. You will need to use synthetic oil which is nearly double the price of regular oil. Premium fuel, which is fortunately going down in price. Then theres insurance, which will skyrocket. And when youve been in two really bad wrecks both being your fault, insurance companies will laugh at you.

Excellent point.

Another thing to think about is I'm gonna assume youve only had you car for a year or two. Then I'm gonna make another assumption that you probably still owe about 15 grand on it. That means you will have negative equity whether you trade it in or privately sell it.

That 3-5 grand you will owe, at best, get financed into you Evo payments. So you are looking at about an extra $100/month (I think) for your payments. So consider that along with the extra gas money, insurance hike, and increased maintenance costs for having an Evo.

Once you figure all that out you will have a better idea of whether you can afford it or not.

Good luck.

I have looked at a few used evo viii's around here, and upon a close examination, its easy to assume these cars were driven, and driven hard. I would assume that most people who bought an evo viii and got rid of it fast enough for it to be on the car lots most likely had some car-beating fun with it, and traded it in before it broke. Not saying all evo owners beat there cars though......or am i??

unless you have it paid off then it's gonna cost alot of $$ if you owe 19000and the car is only worth 11 or 12 then 7 or 8gs are gonna get added to the car payment of the evo, or also whatever your downpayment is gonna be will offset that 7 or 8gs , if you put down 5gs then only like 2 or 3g will get added to the evo. the only thing that may help you is by buying a bradnew evo?? equity of the brand new evo is going to be worth more the bank then a used evo hope that helps
