Warranty Questions?

I know most people here are not too worried about maintaining their warranty, but surely someone knows about it. I just need to know what I have to do to make sure Mitsu doesn't laugh me out the door when I show up with an engine with a thrown rod (not that I have one now, just in case) 4 or 5 years from now. I do all my own oil changes and other basic maintenance. I don't want to have to pay the dealer to do something that I can do myself better, faster and cheaper, because in the end isn't that what it’s all about. Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated.

You need to save all your receipts for any work you do yourself on your car. For example, when changing your oil, save your receipt for the oil and filter, and it wouldn't hurt to jot down the milage that you're doing the change at. That way you have a paper trail showing that your oil changes were done at the proper intervals.

Well, assuming you got the vehicle under the 7 year-100k mile warranty...you will be fine (unless you bring it in there with a turbo / SC kit on it).

I'm with otter on this... keep your receipts. That's what I did with the Prelude and the Integra and I never had a problem with warranty. If I did, the proof would not have been hard to make... and they would have had no choice but do all repairs related to engine wear (the only part of the warranty that can be voided by not changing the oil at all).

A grey area in all this is if you change your own oil, keep the receipts, but only change it at half the rate the manufacturer reccomends... that could get you in trouble.

warranty

What about mods like CAI, improved rear sway bars and strut tower braces? How would these effect the mfg warranty? snowey1

If your problem is not related to an aftermarket problem. They can't say anything about it. But, say you had a rear suspension problem and you had coilovers, springs or like a rear sway bar they COULD say its that parts fault, sorry. Bye bye Warrenty

Warranty issues have been dug into the ground, read the FAQ post at the top of this section. Look on the first page about 3/4 of the way down and you will see the question of all questions regarding warranties. Thread closed.
