tint on back window problems
Has anyone had a problem with tint on the back window where it goes over those little black dots along the bottom and around the edges? I had the mitsubishi recommended installer do the job and it's their top of the line tint (I forget the brand). It appears sort of silver finger width along the bottom. It has a lifetime guarantee but I'm not sure if maybe this is unavoidable.
Ther is no way to get tint to stick on those dots. The only way to fix the speckled look that it gives off is to cut the tint back from the dots. I think I'll keep my speckled look though because I don't want to cut my tint away from the dots only to realize that it look like sh**. My brother had to cut it away from them on his Grand Am though and it doesn't look to bad but he only had them on top but it was about six inches worth across the whole window.
Accually my tint was like that for the first couple days but after it was starting to adhere you push on the back of the tint to get it to stay to the window, without it looking bad. You still notice the dots if you look up close but its not as bad as when its first done
I noticed that on my car and was wondering about them. I think you should be able to use a razor blade and a heat gun and get all the dots off the glass. Before you tint though I don't know any way after the fact sorry man.

i got my tints as soon as i bought my OZ.... yes i paid 300. but, i got the front tinted(which was 125 alone)... and no, i have absolutely no problem with those little black dots and the quality of work is AMAZING.... BTW, the tint guy used johnson tint....which in my opinion is the best tint out there.
the dots you are refering to are called dot matrix. there put on there to F$&K up tinting I swear but im not sure. methods i have seen work are sanding them very carefully there is no other way that i know of except a really good tint man that will take his time to make sure the tint sticks to them properly all around before he gives up.
I have noticed some cars they stick halfway around the window and then its messed up then its good i think its the tint man that really matters...but the sanding them to be somewhat smoother i dont think would hurt

yeah, navysevo is right. I have heard the only real way to take car of it is to sand them off with a really fine sandpaper so you don't scratch the glass. I think I remember them being there to cover any imperfection there may be at the finished edges of the glass. Not sure if this helps since you already have it on though. I would just go with it.
