Beware: sparkplugs very costly!!!
My car has close to 30000 mi, so I figure it is about time to change the plugs. I go to Pepboys and ask them what they have for the Ralliart. All they carry for my car are Autolites and Bousch. I pass on those brands, I want to stick with NGK's. So I call a few places, the cheapest I can find is $10/plug. That is outrageous!!! Out of curiousity I call the dealer to see how much they are. You are never going to believe this, $20/plug!!! That is crazy!!! I figure I would let you guys know what you are in for when changing the plugs for our cars.
you probably wouldn't want to do this... But in one of my art classes last year my teacher had a european MG and the spark plugs are next to impossible to find. So i would clean his for him and they would work just as well as when they were new. You have to have a hot tourch.. Natural Gas, Oxygen mix works well (just need a a hot blue pointed flame) steel wool, and some small scraping tools, wire brush and a week acid mix, (lemon juice works if you don't have access to any stronger acids) We were able to get the plugs back to looking brand new and functioning like brand new.
i used to be a tech and run a service department for a mitsubishi dealership and i know something that might surprise you. mitsubishi marks up their parts 210%! But one of the reasons the plugs are so evpensive is because of the platnum tips. ngk is what i stick to but i get a dealer discount from my old shop. i have to change plugs a lot since i use spras, so i feel your pain.

The plugs in our car are iridium I beleive, I will have to double check the manual to be sure but that would be the reason they cost 10 bucks each. Also you shouldn't have to change them at 30K either. I will double check that also.
Sorry to be a post ***** but they are irridum. Right from the NGK site. http://www.ngk.com/results_app.asp?AAIA=1431672
BPR7IEX - NGK Iridium.
or you could get copper ones for buck fifty or so. change every 3000 miles. (BPR7EX).
My stockers lasted good 50,000 with hard auto-x and drag racing.
and at 50,000 it was still good.
They're good until 60,000 under harsh driving condition, which 90% of us fall in to.
EDIT: just saw it was on ralliart forum, not evo...
but same deal on the plugs i believe....

Buy NGKBPR7ES or 8ES. $1.60 per plug and you can replace every oil change.

say you change your oil every 3000 miles.
and if he wants to change plugs every 30k miles, that'll be 10 times of changing the plug @ $1.60.
Which comes out to $16.00 per plug. Now multiply that by 4, get $64. If he can get the NGK plugs for $10 per plug, that'll only be $40, minus the work he'll have to do every time he changes the oil.
Now if you want to replace plugs even later, paying $10-$20 per plug is an even better deal...
