Trade-in Ralliart for Subaru?

First off, I have been in love with the Subaru WRX STi since it first came out. I wanted this car very badly. I chose to buy the Ralliart because at the time, I didn't have any extra money; and, I was offered 0% financing for 5 years. However, I bought the car in automatic, and that's not really my style...I thought that if I bought an automatic car, I wouldn't get so many speeding tickets/misdemeanors. Dammit, I regret that like hell

The only thing is that driving an automatic is something I am beginning to hate. On the bright side, I have not gotten any speeding tickets for quite a while!

Well, here is what I have been thinking: I want to trade in the Ralliart and get a 2004-05 Subaru WRX STi. I know I will lose money on the trade-in, but I was wondering if anyone knew about how much I would lose. I have the 05 Ralliart with Sun&Sound and 17" Focal F5 wheels. Also a two-way remote start security system (hopefully those things add to the value). I'm wondering how much I'll lose, and also, what do you guys think about it? I wanted to get everyone's valued opinions on this
Thanks for your help.

im not too sure the rims would get you more of a trade in value, you might want to considure trying to sell those as a private owner and trade it in with the stock wheels and tires

The STI... Its a no brainer, but considering it is more than double the price it really should be a no brainer.

If you can afford the STI....then do it! The STI is a monster and has just as much support as the Evo as far as aftermarket.
You will probably be about 5-6k upside down with the Ralliart, though.

Be careful when buying a used STI. STI's and Evo's are known for being driven to the limit so just make sure you have everything checked out.

I traded in my '04 ES for a '06 2.5i and love it. Beats the **** out of my ES, and next year I plan on upgrading to WRX.

I would keep the RA. I like driving stuff that no one else has. But...I can't drive an automatic

Is an evo out of the pidture? They're so similar to the sti yet cheaper. Might get repeat customer deals from mitsu. Maybe bet trade in for RA to?

I like evos, except for a couple of things. First of all, I hate the interior. It's the same as the RA (yeah, I do hate the Ralliart interior). It's just so plain. There doesn't seem to be any way to make the interior look any nicer. I've looked at dash kits, etc. but I still don't like the interior.

Second of all, the evos look like an anime cartoon. They look okay, but I really like the STi look better. I know those two things are very minor issues, but if I were to get either an Evo or STi, I would be going all out. So if I didn't like absolutely everything about the car, that would suck. Any way, I'm really thinking seriously about trading the car in. The only things stopping me are that I have a great financing deal. 0% for five years. If I were to switch to the STi, the APR would be a lot higher. And insurance. How much higher would insurance be? And also, do you guys think the STi counts as a sports car? I mean, it is four doors...

I actually prefer the seats with the blue lining. Of course, I would be putting custom leather seats into it, so that wouldn't be a problem.

I have a question though. A lot of people here put the evo VIII wing on their ralliarts. Personally, I don't like the big wing. It reminds me of an airplane. If I got the STi, I would like to take off the wing and put something subtle on it, like the little spoiler on the BMW M3. Do you guys think that would look good?

Can anyone photoshop the M3 spoiler onto a black 2005 STi?? Would be really appreciated!

Thanks for your comments by the way.

Insurance wise? My policy actually dropped $92 when going from ES to 2.5i. I think Subaru puts more safety features or something that gets lower rates. For about the same price as a RA I get a little more power and AWD...and lower insurance. Don't know what STI vs Evo insurance would be though. But who knows, might be less.

It's kind of funny how people bring up insurance all the time yet, every single person on here will have it different.

Think about everything that plays a role in factoring in your insurance some places are by family or house hold, area you live in, accidents, age, type of car, power of car, amount of doors the car has and I'm sure the list could go on. I saved $1000 when I went from my 2 door RSX (base) to my 4 door Ralliart.
