That's exactly what I was thinking. Some warp speed type stuff! I wish there was snow in Vegas without having to drive up a mountain...

Having a SUV doesnt mean your not going to get stuck in a snow storm or slide into the ditch when its icy, the drivers skill is the most important thing in that situation. They were all going too fast. Just last week I was driving to a hockey game and there was a heavy snowfall with lots of drifting snow, i had to slow down to 30km/h in some places because I couldn't even see the road.

You are correct! were i live we measure snowfall in feet not inches and let me tell you about 80% of the vehicles you seen on a ditch every other day are SUV's people that think awd is gnna make you stop better and handle better...well i drive most of the time fast for the road condition and i have not been in a ditch yet in the 7 winters i been here(all fwd cars) now sometimes i drive the subaru (2 door 2.5RS)with snow tires and the only improvement is take off traction....nothing else!

Well we got about 17cms(over 6.5 inches) yesterday night/morning. It was so not fun having to dig out the car in order to leave, getting stuck in any parking lot, and I probably pushed about 8-10 ppl who were stuck throughout the day.

next year, I'm getting some winter tires.

As for the whole all-wheel drive debate, my friend who has an '01 A4 with the 1.8T and winter tires started up their car, and drove straight out their parking spot without a hint of possibly getting stuck.

Does all-wheel drive solve everything, hell no, but it certainly helps.

I didn't really have a choice but to keep moving... I was in a strange area, and every car that had pulled over was covered in snow. Had I stopped, I'd still be there.

It might not be a lot of snow for those of you who regularly get snow, but for us, that was a freak storm. My friend's been in Monterey for nearly 30 years, and that's only the 3rd time that she'd seen snow.
