A Little Question

This is a question for all those who know a bit more about the ECU's in the RA!
Ive noticed twice now that when accelerating quickly right after starting the car cold (i havent tried it warm) that there seems to be a rev limiter at 4500-5000 rpm, has anyone else noticed this? or is it indicative of a flaw in the engine, thanks.

There's a rev limiter for our engines when cold. Let your car warm up for a moment before driving it, and it's not good to get on the gas on a cold engine. Baby it until it's warm.

yes. it limits the rpms till its warm enough. Ya, never rev it cold. bad. Even right after initial startup dont ever rev till oil pressure builds up. your parts need to be lubricated first before you step on the throttle.

The EVO is the same way. The RA will limit timing until the sensors have at least 1 minute of startup data. If the car is warm this is almost instantanous. For instance until the O2 sensor warms up the car goes on a static map to start it up and run; when the sensor finally warms it can begin dynamic variables.

living in moncton, thats got to be colder then london. Starting your car in subzero weather is bad enough, let alone revving it hard. Just listen when you start engine on -20* morning, you can hear the pistons scratching the cylinders. Its like grinding your teeth with sand in it.
