I was test driving a Miata, RWD is not my strongsuit although I can hold my own normally. I was going down a local road that I have been on multiple times with my RA pretty fast. I was doing close to 90 coming up on some esses. Entered them normally, got through the first two and hit a big *** dip in the road just as I was starting to change my steering input. The *** end shot out, I correct but not before the car started towards the median. The median was about 18" high because of a storm drain. Tore the right front tire, hub, brake assembly, all off the car almost. Blew the rotor and rim to bits and pieces. I was able to get the car straightened out and it ended up coming to a rest on the shoulder about 150' from the point where I hit the drain. about 6000$ worth of damage. all well. deductible was 500, which I didn't pay b/c the dealer took the car and repaired it. the insurance company wrote them a check and the dealer called me asking for thd deductible, left me a message actually. When I called them back they told me it was just about the car and that the guy would call me back if needed. that was like 8 months ago.
So, like I quoted from my ealier post. save up some money and go to the track with an instructor, or save it for your deductible. I got lucky cause I wasn't saving.
awesome otter. I was at lowes the first time I lost the *** end of my RA. I was able to save it going around 60mph, how fast is that slalom? I was going downhill slightly off camber to the left, coming off the throttle for braking and entry to another corner. Scared the shiznat out of my 16yr old passenger
It's a pretty neat feeling, the first thing I noticed was the weight shift, then the tires break. I used to get my 93 mazda protege sideways all the time, it was easy to control like that for some reason.

And no one thought to blame his losing it on the release of the new Fast and the Furious...

I guess the other cars I've had, could have done it- but the ABS just kicked in and where as my old 98 Mitsuishi Magna would have kept going and back up the road I'd have gone, I just kinda didn't slide and then stopped without a skid... looked pretty dorky. Came as a surprise becase U-turns have always gone well in the RA for me... just this was rather aggressive.

i don't street race and i usually don't drive agressivley. but right after i put a new part in or sometimes when im in the mood, i test her out a little bit. i don't put her up to 100 in a 35 or anything but as long as your not a complete moron playing around sometimes is ok.

Some cars were hitting 80 in the slalom.....I am pretty sure Jon in the AMS Evo was going that quick through there.

damn, 80 is pretty quick for any slalom. Some country roads in South Carolina you can see for two or three miles straigh ahead. I was working on some new houses down there when I first go my car. It will handle pretty well at 80 to 90 mph from white line to white line, but I would not say it was like a slalom.
I don't normally look at my speedo either, it's just that I usually shift to third shortly before that corner.

yeah i spun out on my car too before. I was speeding home ( i live in the country) and i was rushing to get home before my parents from my girl's house. Well there was this last turn, a really big 4 way intersection and i have the right of way, so i didnt really slkow down and my car caught some loose gravel and i spun out. a cloud of dust rose into the air, A LOT. and this was at nght too, but i came out ok. But now i know, i've also been in an accident after that, but now i know how to seriously take it easy. I'm set now
