Question Mitsubishi Lancer VR-X

Hey guys,

I'm from Sydney, Australia and I own a RA. However, in AUS they call it the Mitsubishi VR-X.

http://www.drive.com.au/PHOTOS/PHOTO...20VR-X_135.jpg

Anyway, can't seem to find a forum here in AUS on RA's and EVOm is the best one out there. Trying to source parts in here, but can't seem to find anything as well.

If anyone can link me up to a few reputable sites that would be great as I don't know the US/CA market and would prefer purchasing from someone who has bought from them before with a good experience. Any links to noob threads would also be great

Ta

As for the link above, click on this one http://www.drive.com.au/photos/photo...20vr-x_135.jpg

It's bigger, and you'll be able to see the VR-X badge.

A few trifle differences. I know that on the exterior, they don't get the smoked headlights, and their tires are more narrow (195's), however, the stock tires for them are Advans and they can get their cars in blue. No idea if the interiors are different.

if by smoked headlights you mean they aren't all chromed inside like the base models then the VR-X is like the RA. Sort of a gunmetal plastic instead of chrome

Not the best pic coz of shadow but mine look like so:

we have 3 versions of the Lancer a ES - LS and VRX the VRX is exactly the same as yours...
I have the ES because it was cheaper and lighter and by cheaper I mean $8k cheaper but there is almost no difference in the cars minus sunroof, 16" alloy rims, lip kit, center console has lid... I could not justify the extra coin for these few things that I would change anyway

Back on topic tho if you want to check out more MIVEC Lancers that are Australian based you could check out www.mogwa.org

Question though, the wheels on the ES are 4 stud or 5? Was reading somewhere earlier today, the RPW site under brake upgrades for memory that it was 4... but my VR-X is 5. Would have thought they would be the same.

Otter, actually our tires are Yokohamas stock. The actual headlights are smoked. Its like gunmetal plastic like Ryan said.

Chowetime, besides all the extra mods put on the VRX, I hear the ES model doesn't get MacPherson Struts which makes makes handling an issue. But other than that - thats all. Thanks for the link too.

Also, did you mod your ES through RPW? Do they have CAI for us? Magnaflows?

Yes the ES does have the same suspenssion as the VRX except the VRX is slightly lower - I would think it is only lowering springs

Yes I am/did get my car modified thru RPW I am actually taking the car back there this friday for the turbo to be fitted to the car...

Currently my car has the RPW headers/extractors 4-1 race design mandrel bent hi flo cat and 21/2" exhaust with a Lukey muffler... my intake is just at the moment a K&N pod filter but they do or will have in the next week or 2 have a complete intake system...

the gains are very noticeable the car revs that much more freer my dyno results that are shown at the bottem of my sig are with the smaller diameter extractors and no intake mods... this number is much higher now as I have the larger extractors and a pod filter my track times also imprved from 16.2 to 15.5 again this was with the small diameter extractors... if I had to give a number as to what the larger ones have given my car I would be comfortable in saying that the car would do a 15.3 maybe 15.2 ... hp would be much closer to the 170hp but this is using a hub dyno not the roller dyno type which would be about 145hp atw and as an added bonus the fuel consumption is much better than stock I am now getting with careful driving about 500klm per tank vs stock with very careful driving 420klm

hope this helps you out - if you have more questions please ask away only too happy to answer best I can

yes the low life ES comes with only 4 studs my placement is 4 x 114 and the wonderfully fully loaded VRX comes with the 5 stud just like it's bigger brother EVO

chowetime, can't wait! Post some pics of your turbo when its all finished. Looking forward to it!

As for the RPW headers/extractors 4-1 race design mandrel bent hi flo cat and 21/2" exhaust, how much did that cost? All from RPW right?

Do you notice a huge improvement in the torque department chowetime?

Has anyone bought a CAI kit for their Mivec lancer? If so, what one and from where? Looking a neat INJEN or AEM but can't seem to find one. RRM claims to have out dynoed the INJEN and AEM CAI's....

Do you think purchasing from the US would be a problem?
