so is there a mechanical difference between the '06 and '05

ok, I know that this was posted before and now you see why I post separately for each question. It got lost in the thick of things...

I swear my '05 was faster... it had a really strong pull

My '06 simply does not...

Why??

Break in time?

did they change anything?

waaaaah Help!

Not entirely true, more then the grill/bumper changed. It has an indicator for the passanger airbag, the material on the seats I'd swear is different, some the controls moved a bit, different steering wheel, and I don't know what else.

Can't say I know if it feels different to drive or not, I've only sat in an '06.

maybe because you got so used to the 05 that when you got into an 06 there was no difference giving you the illusion of being slower? i dunno..

If you had an 05 w/o the side air bags and now you have a 06 w/side airbags, Std. equipment on all 06 RA's, there will be a little more weight to the car not much though. Anything else that your 06 has that your 05 didn't? I doubt that there could be enough of a weight differential that the good old "but dyno" would notice though.

there have got to be hundreds of reviews or specs out on the web siting differences, and i don't think any mention anything mechanical. my guess is that one, your new car might be heavier and two, you could have just gotten a weaker engine. if it's bothering you enough to worry - take it in.

i dont know, interesting question though, because when i was having problems with my clutch rattaling, squeaking and all that i took it in, they repaird the clutch with one for an 06 model , i noticed that the cars clutch pedel felt wimpy compared to befor and it didnt feel to have as much pull as the busted clutch did. so i took it right back the next day and the guy said dont worry about it, its a new design clutch and it needed time to break in.

now i cant tell if the clutch is feeling better because it is finally broken in or im just use to it now, but ther is one really important thing that i noticed the new clutch never rattled or squeaked or any of that other junk that the original clutch did after only 2 month of owning the car, so theres gotta be some kind of diffrence going on ther

The 06's may have a less aggressive clutch. The RA's clutch is fairly strong given its stock power level (the stock clutch is good for nearly double the stock power output). If you've ever felt a base Lancer's clutch, it feels pathetic by comparison, and they're able to use that clutch on their stage 2 turbo setups without slippage.

Just wondering? what's the diff in the steering wheel? I would think the spline should be the same, no?
