Evo instrument cluster

Anyone know if the stock Evo instrument cluster will work in our cars? I'm guessing it would fit, but wondering if the connectors would just plug in and read correctly.

I was thinking about swapping mine out because I like the bigger tach and the 160mph speedo!

From the noob thread...

I'm not sure if that means both physically and electrically, or just physically though. I'd assume that it means both and it's a relatively simple plug and play.

Yes is my understanding, I have a friend who works a parts counter in GA... He says they appear the same... Should be a plug and play...

Try to find one without the ACD function, then you won't have the Tarmac/Gravel/snow indicator....

The only issue with it is that there's no way to transfer over your mileage. If you put in a lower mileage cluster, it's illegal, and if you put in a higher mileage one, you're screwing yourself come resale time.

Yeah, i could see the moral issues with that, but then again, a normal RA consumer should notice the guage cluster was not stock... Its not illegal unless you do not disclose a mileage rollback...

We put in new clusters often at the dealership with 0 miles... Its up to the customer to disclose Odometer information...

the only thing that might have it not work right is the Tarmac, Gravel, Snow setting thingy

It works fine - those are the gauges we get stock in our 2.0 4G63 Ralliart Lancers. Except they have white faces, and the logo reads instead of just "Lancer":

Lancer
Ralliart
2.0 DOHC

... Mine reads

Lancer
Ralliart
Version-R
2.4 MIVEC

Ill take a pic of mine soon.

I liked the white gauges, and unless your turbo'd I don't think 160mph is necessary

I have an aquaintance(<-sp?)(a Cop from all people) that turboed his rallyart and has both evo like bumpers, Evo Rims and the Cluster... Its more or less like an Evo conversion. Runs low 13s at 10 psi with stock internals. So you can physically place it its a ***** though since I once tried to remove the cluster to see if an Evos would fit, and you have to move the top par of the dash for it to fit. Im not thinking about modding that until I get a Cam a Haltech with some type of rev limiter defeat system. That way rev to at least 7200 rpm and work with a high lift cam

He is turbo, and i like those guages better than the white faced ones too. Someone should make a cheap conversion kit that look exactly the same but we can keep the mileage and whatnot.

you still wont be able to take advantage of the 160mph speedo, remember we redline in 5th at 120ish. so unless you get longer gears, the speedo wont allow you to go faster

i agree i also like it
